I think my trans pan gasket is leaking. Unless its coming from somewhere else. Those filters are reusable correct? Or can i pull the pan off and silicone the gasket to help seal it? Thanks!!

Don't use any gasket sealant if it's leaking get a new gasket. The gasket is a reusable gasket and last a very long time. Has it been off lately and over torqued deflecting the pan so it doesn't seal proper? Make sure that your fluid is at the proper level and when getting up to temp it isn't leaking from the vent on top trickling down. What filter are you talking about?

its.rare. for those gaskets to go bad, but if its coming from around the pan its more than likely the gasket. if you're talking about the internal filter, it should still be good. i have a good trans gasket if you need one.

Linkage seals are known to leak behind the NSBU and can fool you into thinking it is a pan gasket.

Thanks guys. I'll do some more in depth looking to see for sure. I didn't intend to say filter. I meant gasket on that part. Ive never had the pan off, so i know that option is ruled out. Maybe I will wipe everything off and dry it, and then get a better look at things. How much or the new gaskets?

I think they're like $20 bucks ,I could be wrong ,at a Allison dealer. They will be the cheapest new, the dealer, GM,will be real pricey. I doubt you need one tho they seldom leak. Best to keep looking around

I changed my trans fluid last nite. I looked for the leak. At the rear of the pan, straight up in is just soaked with fluid. The four wheel drive drive shaft hasn't helped with the mess, but it give you an idea of where its leaking. Any ideas?

Mine was leaking from the pan gasket at the back where the adapter meets the trans case. New gasket solved my issue.
