Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has had any positive experience with lower transmission and rear differential temperatures by replacing the pan / cover with upgraded capacity or finned covers?? I have a few trailers approx 15k lbs and the trans temp tends be okay on long trips, but I was looking to help it out a little if possible.

If you really want a finned diff cover, look on eBay for the AAM 11.5 / Mopar covers that come on the newer dodges. They're usually under $100

Mikes trans cooler.

Deep Trans pan won't keep temps down it just takes a little longer to heat up.

I agree, you want a larger cooler if you are worried about trans temps. The larger pan does help keep things cold slightly due to additional surface area, but no where near as well as a better cooler will. Even the finned pans won't do much, because the air velocity near the pan isn't that high.

Plus, if you ever off road, the deep pan sticks way down, and you could beat it up or rip a hole in it. I manage to scrape the paint off my shallow pan pretty easily.
