i just wondered how long the stock trans will last with a completly stock motor no tune. just wondering what the life difference is because my stock trans now limps with a very very very mild tune that is very close to stock at 140k

mine could have lasted more than 300k km, but i chose to rebuild it at 300k km. I looked at my clutches when it was rebuilt and they really good, not burnt or anything but the fluid was dark. about 90% of those km were on a hypertech on lvl 3.

I think that a lot of it would depend on how hard you drive, how heavy you tow, whether or not you plow, etc. However, if none of those really apply to you and you change your spin on filter and fluids at the suggested intervals, Id think the allison could last as long as the truck itself. Im no expert though.

As far as the stage 3. Costs can vary as it is a kit and depends on who r&r's your tranny, who does the kit, etc. It can take quite a pounding. My Stage III has almost 100,000 miles on it, about 80,000 at or around 500 hp. Many many 1/4 mile passes, many many hooks to the sled, and basiclly gets driven very hard on an almost daily basis. It still shifts like a dream, never slips, and works like a champ. Im very happy with it.

well i think a stage 3 would work fine for me now then i would like to get a stage 4 and have it done but the extra $$ is something i dont want to spend on a trans. maybe mike ar some one who sells sc kits can give me a quote on price of a sc3
going slow is not fun

You can go plenty fast with the stage 3 believe me. I wouldve liked a a stage IV too but I didnt have the money at the time. A stage III has done me fine though, so no regrets. I think youd be fine with a stage III.

I know someone with 750k kilometers on a stock trans and 50hp tune and she has never had any problems with it yet. She is a pilot car driver and sees alot of miles every year. Truck is an 05 IIRC. She is hopping to get a million km's out of it before she gets a new truck.

A stock Alli that never had a programmer on it should last 250K with proper service.
