Got the diamomd eye installed (pita and i never want to see a dp or dipstick ever again) and i jacked the tube up and eventually ripped it out. I cut it off and plugged it about 2 or 3 inches out of the trans. Are there any modded dipsticks out there that are stubby and only come out a few inches? It leaked and i dont have any desire to undo anything to run a new full length one in there.

There is a dipstick socket in about the same location as the factory one, just mirrored on the opposite side. it has a plug in it, just swap that plug to the other side.

The tube terminates near the turbo on the drivers side.

It works on all 01-07 classic trucks to my knowledge. NBS trucks i do not know.

And I also remember mike saying it wont work with aftermarket up-pipes. But dont quote me on that.

Its a cheap investment. The dipstick is still accurate as well. It does come plain so you will have to paint it but its another high quality piece from mike.

Mine works great.

Ahh, didnt know that. That would eliminate having to come by the down pipe. I just seny Mike a pm asking if it will work on my LMM. I heard a guy say the gp controller is in the way but i will see what Mike says and go from there.

Mike said the driver side ds will not work for the LMM:( Right now, i have the stick out and i cut the tube to where its sticking out of the tranny only about 4 or 5 inched and i have it taped up with electrical tape at the mouth.

Question...i read that the ds serves as a vent too, so is it bad that i have it sealed right now? Im thinking about using the loop and just cutting the dipstick to match the tube and figure an accurate way to make the readings calibrated to factory markings. Anyway, in the meantime, will it hurt that i have the tube capped off? Thanks for any suggestions.

That is not true. The transmission is vented on the top of the case at the back toward the left side. You should be fine.

great, thanks man. that means i dont have to mod the ds and its tube right away. im sick of screwing with my truck. seems like im always doing somthing to it. i have only been fishing once this year but have spent a over a dozen evenings doing stuff to my truck.
