Hey Mike, Would this Haden Cooler I had laying around work for a Trans cooler? It has 1/2 npt inlets.

I posted an answer an hour ago and it's gone.
The cooler will work fine but you will have to cut the lines and use hose and clamps. That could pose a potential problem. Hoses tend to leak after a while.
Cool, That $100 bucks will get put to use I'm going to try and hard line it with compression fittings. We'll see. Thanks Mike

That cooler is designed for allison transmissions (or at least marketed for them by hayden) Although I think they had the MD-series in mind, not the 1000 series.
I know nothing about Hayden. We use these coolers for our Aircraft engines as oil coolers. I had an extra one laying around and I got to looking at the factory cooler on the truck thinking , How the hell does that really cool that much? I just want to make damn sure it will keep it cooler with the Hayden before I go chopping lines!!! So do we all agree it will keep the Trans Temps cooler? Just have to make sure I have a warm-fuzzy feeling first.

I think if you put it in front of the grille, it would make a huge difference........to the looks of your truck...
It looks like it has more surface area than my stocker, the tubing looks larger allowing for less pressure drop. IMO it'll cool better.
If i had to add my 2 pennies. I would add a fan to it for stop and go traffic/in town ragging when air across the fins is less than adequate. I am putting my trans fan on a switch so i can avoid the t-stat issues/dependability. I say this cause you are from Florida and it gets HOT there yes?

I was thinking backside of the "A" frame that supported the original cooler (underneath hood latch). This would leave 3/4" space between the cooler and the fan. Or spin it so the fan blows and the cooler is on the backside of the "A" frame.
Jeez what am i saying... it isn't my truck. OK I'll shut up now.
Joey, another neat idea. Move the fan and the cooler to the area currently covered by plastic muk/wind screen below the radiator. 2 bars, one about 2" OD and the other about 1.25" od. If it's a street truck good idea maybe? If a 4 wheel truck, not so good.
