Tranny range shift inhibited no codes

I am new here I have a 2005 LLY with 225,000 on her and recently I have had problem that is driving me crazy! At first if I start it up and give it a couple seconds I then can throw it in gear but if threw it in to fast it in reverse it won't go it says " range shift inhibited " and on into Drive it does a loud clunk and it moves maybe a 1 mph with 1500 rpms for about ten feet then locks and goes. After you get it in gear it drives fine no problems. Now it's getting worse it is showing range shift inhibited a from Drive to Reverse you can move it through ever gear but nothing sit there and why is this happening and try it again in drive and it will work fine. One day it will work if you let it run for about 30 seconds then the next day it just hardly won't go into gear. I heard NSBU switch but it was replaced like 20,000 ago and it acted completely different. I heard ignition switch, shift cable, seal in the trans causing converter drain back. I am lost I don't know what to do has no trans codes I would appreciate some help.

Unplug the main harness from the trans, is it full of trans fluid? If so, spray it out & put dielectric grease on the pins

Ok I will try that tomorrow and yes like I said it's just weird to me that after it sits over night it is way over full not running but after I drive it and it's up to temp it is in the hot mark?

Well, the trans needs to be up to temp with the engine running in park to check the fluid level... Just like every other auto trans. Checking trans level with the engine off is like checking engine oil with the engine running

Shift range inhibited occurs when the input shaft is still turning at a standstill. ( No geartrain pull down ) The TCM will not command a gear unless the clutches that should be released are not, and the clutches that need to apply are not applied.
Low fluid, restricted sump filter, clutch damage, and weak trim solenoid and sticky E shift valve can cause this. Low voltage can also have an effect. The Allison needs 12.6 volts to operate properly. Anything lower than 11.5 volts may cause it to act up.

My 03 was showing similar symptoms.

I replaced the internal wiring harness, both filters, NSBU and all new Transynd. No avail.

Took it to Merchants (on Mike L.'s advise. He told me to get it to a shop that knew how to read trans codes).

Turns out the seal in the front of the Tcase was bad. Trans fluid was getting into the Tcase. Trans was low on fluid, then it was okay.

Sudden shifts from reverse to drive, would starve the trans for fluid, it would go into inhibit mode.

Hell of it was, the Tcase was a Merchant reman unit. But it was out of the 12 month warranty, they sold me the parts at cost.

I dropped the Tcase, replaced the seal, all is well.

Pull the fill plug on your Tcase, if trans fluid comes out (case will be over full), your seal is bad.

Should I give it a chance with the ignition switch? I had my gauge cluster going crazy awhile back the whole cluster would turn of and on for about 10 seconds then the ABS and brake light would flash. This only happened about 4 times just going down the road I t hasn't done it sense then. My alternator went out got a new one been fine but then out of random it was dead the other day jump started it hasn't given me anymore problems sense. Are these signs of the ignition switch?

Did you check if the batteries are still good? One bad battery can cause issues and make you think it's a dead alternator.

Your 05 sounds like it's exhibiting the exact same set of symptoms mine did when the batteries were on their way out. Cluster acting strange, range shift inhibited message. I had the batteries tested and one was toast, the other was weak. I replaced both of the batteries it cleared it all up. Good luck hope this helps

I used a multimeter one battery was 12.7 volts and the other one was 12.9.

A multimeter won't tell you if the battery is bad. You need to do a load test on it to tell you if you have a bad battery. You can have one bad battery and one good battery because the good battery is holding charge and trickle charging the bad battery to hold voltage. Go to autozone or any local shop and have them load test the battery. A multimeter does not do this.
