Ok so right now I'm in the middle of bumf&@k nowhere and my tranny line is leaking. It seems the bottom line has been rubbing for some time now on the oil pan and finally rubbed through. My question to you guys now is can I just cut the steel line and put a piece of hose there with two clamps to get me home? What is the line pressure? Will the rubber hose hold the pressure or will it blow off?? Any info is appreciated!

Thanks!

Nick

Pull the line and cut out the bad section , then flare the two metal ends and have a jic hose ( hydraulic hose ) made up . Make sure you get two brass flared fittings to go on your metal lines before you flare it . I have made this repair before , works great !!!

Do not use rubber hose. Pressure can spike to 200 psi and will blow hose off. Try using a compression fitting ( 5/8 ). It may be long enough to cover the length of damaged piece line you cut off. If you have to use hose, double clamp it and keep your foot out of it. Good luck.
