I am looking at getting a winch for my Felling deckover trailer and wondering what pound winch people are useing on there trailer's? I was thinking an 8,000 lbs. or 9500 lbs. Also what brand winch to buy ? I would love to buy a Warn, but for how much I will use it, I was think about going with a cheaper brand.
Any input or pictures of installed winch's will be helpful, Thank's Zak

Here is a picture of the trailer:

I would go with the 9500 single line or you can do a snatchblock and it cuts you cable speed by 1/2 but the winch is cheaper and it doubles your pulling power.

As big as you can get is what I have learned with winches. But as mentioned above you can always use one (or more) snatch blocks to up the towing power.

Ordered a Smittybilt XRC8 8000 lbs. winch, $285 to my door. There are a ton of great reviews on the 4x4 forums. No it's not a Warn, but for the price it should work fine for a trailer.

You might check this out:

I'm much like you, I'd never buy anything other than a Warn...but for a trailer it just seems like a waste of money for how much it would get used. Plus, a winch on a trailer failing isn't going to leave you stranded somewhere remote.

I still haven't bought one, but the review on the Engo gives a decent argument for a trailer.

I am also interested in this. I would like to put one on the neck of my gooseneck, Im sure it would come in handy for sure. However the amount of times I would use it, I dont want to spend a ton of money on one. Let us know how you guys make out.
