Traction bars load

I am going to be running a setup soon that I have to be able to raise and lower the frame to axle distance between DD and sled pulling mode. Would I need to get long bars that I can screw adjust while installed on the truck to keep them working correctly. Or will a one time (on install adjust) bar be okay for this? I noticed Tony B. or MA bars can adjust on the truck by twisting the bar, like cal tracs. But alot of other bars like cognito or homebuilts are simply a "one time adjustment bar". Which will I need, If being able to set preload is a much much better idea in my setup I will go with that. I don't think most guys adjust there bars all the time around my neck of the woods, but there also full time pulling trucks. Even in the stock turbo class :roflmao:

FWIW I will be running a long traction bar from the axle tube to the front of the frame, and another top link from the axle tube to the rear of the frame or the hitch receiver. The rear top link is how I am going to be able to adjust the frame height up and down.

Are they only adjustable when you install them? I was talking to him about building me a set. But from what I gather unless ordered custom they are one time adjusted. Could i see a pic of what they look like if they are a custom set?

I would always want atleast 1" of adjustment, just me. I dont pull, but I dont see how it could hurt..

Hes wanting to know if he should preload the bars for sled pulling. Doing so with my bars isnt exactly as easy as turning a wrench.

Personally i cant see why you would need to preload the springs for pulling if you have suspension stops in place. I dont pull so take what i say with a grain of salt on that aspect.

I just built bars for my truck for pullin. Front mount bolts to frame was told to never weld on a frame. Creates a hot spot and weakens frame area. The rear bracket is welded to the tube, was told to not use the ubolts and a bracket off of them because there not meant for horizontal strength. The guy that helped me is a chasis builder, for pullin tractors, trucks and monster trucks. He builds 4 links and the shocks for grave digger and his crews. The guy is serious.
The bars themselves are 2 1/4in 1/4 wall. 72in long. We did a left and right slugs so there adjustable with 1in heims. The whole kit turned out perfect. Wont ever break or bend thats for sure.
