Had a couple drinks Saturday night and decided to burn the tires off my truck. Planning on buying either 305/55r20 Nitto Trail Grapplers or 33/12.5 Toyo M/Ts. I had trail grapplers on my last truck and was happy with them although they weren't great in the light snow. Truck would go through 2 feet no problem but an inch on the road would get dicey. Just curious if anyone has any info to offer on the Toyos. They seem to have more siping. Go.

Edit: I also liked that the trail grapplers weren't terribly loud. How are the toyos?

any mud tire isn't going to be good in snow..well small amounts of snow there isn't as much contact patch a bfg a/t or a open country a/t would be best for snow imho

I know, Just miss the look of the more agressive tires. Plus if I don't get a set of STSs before next season these might be a little better to pull on. I considered Duratracs but Im not sold on the looks for daily driving.

I loved my toyo's when I had them on my LMM. If I was to get another aggressive mud tire it would be another set of Open Country's for sure.

Thanks Pete. If it wasn't for the price difference I'd already have a set. Just want to see if it's worth the extra hundred plus per tire

I liked my trail grapplers, but could spin/ light them up real easy on dry roads. Then on just wet roads I had to be carefull it would spin and slide at a drop of a hat. Now I have the nitto terra grapplers and it is hard to make them spin even on wet roads, they are siped. Plus better mileage.

I just saw that Toyo redesigned the open country AT and it now has a more agressive looking sidewall and a bit more agressive tread pattern. Wish I had seen these before, they look mean and will be much better daily than a M/T

Yeah, Toyo M/T's over Trail Grapplers in my opinion. From what I've seen from my customers they last longer, ride better and look much better also. I just put a set of Toyo A/T II's on my '03 GMC and so far so good. One thing I'm surprised at is the road noise. My Maxxis Treapadors on my Jeep are quieter. Guess I need a louder stereo!

I myself love the look of the new baja claws...

I agree on that but a little aggressive. Once I got to thinking about my trail grapplers in the snow I started to reconsider. The new AT2s have a lot of siping and the sidewall looks more like the mud terrains did. Kind of get the best of both worlds. Plus full on mud tires will tempt me to go in mud. Which will lead to my trac bars being high centered on everything.
