It was brought up that my truck has the snow plow package on it and looked up that some trucks have 5400 or 6000 lbs torsion bars. I also read that the 6.0 gassers had 4600lbs bars.

Has anyone ever swapped them in?

Will it give a better ride?

Would it just be better to put a coil over set up on?

This will be a lighter truck as it will be my street/strip truck. It will be in my 06 rclb. Thought I'd ask before I put my djm control arms on.

Check your RPO codes in the glove box. That should call out which bars you have. Look for codes like LGK and RGK or LGL and RGL. The L/R designates side, and the second two characters identify which bars you have. That will give you your starting point. Swapping to lighter bars will soften the ride...whether or not that's a good thing depends on your preferences.

FWIW I replaced the factory WY bars in my 1500 LLY with GK bars and I'm much happier with the ride, the stock ones were too soft and the front of my truck would bob up and down when I went over larger bumps. It was not a confidence inspiring feeling.

Here's a good article for reference:
