I am wondering how well the Dodge posi unit is holding up to racing conditions. Once I start going after some better 60' times I know the stock G80 is going to give up on me soon. A spool is my last option but I do drive this truck on the street every now and then.

From what I hear they ain't a huge improvement over the G80. Yukon has a real locker that should be available in a month or so and the price would be around $1100. There are a few being tested now. If you can't wait if it i would do a spool IMO they ain't that bad.

Torsens are excellent for roadracing, but I would rather have a locker for drag or sledpulling. Torsens still let one tire spin faster than the other, but it applies more torque to the loose tire than an open rear does.

Our G80's are actually pretty durable IF YOU DON'T do burnouts. If you like burnouts, it will break. Casper's G80 was in new condition after over 500 passes, I expected it to be showing wear, but no, so we put it back in when we stuck the 3.42's in. If you have a 5-sp Allison, you might consider the 3.42's when you go inside the axles. It ends up with similiar freeway RPM as the 6-sp, and didn't hurt the ET's.

do you think it would launch better at the track? because of having it 1st gear a little longer

We have surplus HP in first gear, so only traction limits your 60's normally. The faster you want to go, the more the 3.42's make sense. Especially if you want to run 28" tires like the M&H DR's.

I went with the Yukons, and they seem to holding up well.

It perhaps even assisted me sled-pulling, since it stretched out third gear. It was "happy" at 4000rpm in 3rd, and didn't want fourth.
