why can't the allison???

Why can't it what?

It can't lock in 1st as it's not mechanically possible. I don't know exactly why though.

You can't just "Ground" the TCC solenoid "like the dodge guys" because the solenoid isn't designed for 100% duty cycle and will burn out PDQ.

Because God said no.:beatdeadhorse: It would cost 50K at least in R/D to do it and what could i sell it for? How many would I sell 10 at 5K and not even break even? Would you buy it ? Didn't think so.:D

Cool, so it's a hydraulic limitation because of the valve body. Now was that so hard or just hard to say for the eleventy-millionth time?

Some swear it is possible, but most believe it is not. And yeh the subject has been beat to death since I joined DP back in early 04, probably before then too.

Got my alli built pretty soon after getting the truck and just never really frequent the aftermarket transmission sections that often... I haven't really ever had a need for it (if I find that I do, I'll do 2nd gear starts and engage LU when desired from there. ;) ) or known anyone who does, just knew it wasn't possible and wondered why.

Sorry for beating a dead horse inadvertantly. :beer

you can lock it at will, but it will set a P0743 everytime you do it.. And you can engage the converter clutch in first gear.. When testing the turbobrake, it would kill the truck if you had the software a little screwy :D You had to have it in neutral and shift to drive. engaging lockup in reverse will make reverse disengage.

I tried that (grounding the f trim control wire) and still couldnt get first gear lockup.

I know the allison supports neutral lockup for PTO stuff, but I still cant get first gear lockup no matter what I try..

Not sure why anyone would want to lock first gear with our superlow first ratio. You won't go quicker or pull harder. Might break something new I suppose, which always has great entertainment value, but isn't very good for performance.

Seriously... :bdh: Why would you want to manually lock the converter? Why not let the Allison do it's job?

And I can jump off a 5 story building but i will break my neck every time.
This can be done with valve body engineering and then electrical engineering to activate it. how much will the R&D cost and how many will you sell Braden?
