Guys,

My truck runs great, but not at all off the line. I'm running an ihi 64mm turbo stock turbine but my 1057 is just too tight and I can't build any boost before breaking tires loose.

I know you can restall a converter but is that the best option?

Also I know I don't have a billet stator, what are the advantages of the billet stator over modified stock?

Your tuning is shit.... I ran a 1057 with a much bigger turbo than a 64mm with no issues building 15-20psi while staging

Honestly, the 1057 is pure shit. It's not a racing converter. (Suncoast words not mine). I personally like the 1056.

I had the 1056 on my 05 and then went to the 1057. IMO the 1057 was way better than the 1056. The truck felt much more responsive during every day driving. It was much more fun to drive too.

What works for one truck doesn't always work for another. You can have 3 identical built trucks with the same converter and 3 different tuners and each truck will drive and feel different. There are to many variables to make blanket statements about how one sucks and one doesn't as each person likes something different. The 1057 has it's place as does the 1056. The 56 is a entry level low HP converter that works well in a variety of situations but isn't the best at any of them. We have been working with Suncoast and have a few new options that couple as hard as the 57 but have a decent brake stall and flash to get chargers to light all while keeping the converter efficient. One being the 1074 and the other is our in house converter that flashes a little higher then the 74.

Funk had a 1057 with no lock up box with a single 75, stock CP3, 60% Inj, and a stock engine and went 7.16@96-97mph. I wouldn't say 1057 are junk lol

Learned this the hard way. A lot of guys had luck with a 1058 with a big single. But a handful of us had bad luck. Hell. I tried turbos, tunes and fueling. 1053 took care of it.

I wonder how that truck drove tho;). I know it's all personal preference, but I'm 99% positive I'd find that combo unbearable to drive.

Evan, I'm really interested in hearing more on these new offerings. But my statement stands TRUE, the 1057 isn't a racing converter. Yes tuning plays a HUGE role, but at the end of the day it's still not an ideal converter for drag racing.

I've run the 1057, 1056, and 1054. Personally I like the 56 the best. Also happens to be the one my tuner liked the best. (Said he likes the 74 now)

That's is of course my opinion:D

OP, what size tires are you running?

Being a fixed geometry turbo obviously changes things up too. I've noticed the posters saying they like the 57 all have vvt trucks. That makes a big difference imo

Good observation. The 57's and likewise converters shine in VVT applications. I've put our Limitless converter in a few stock lb7's and so far with Kory's and Marks tuning both felt like a great match. I have not tried the 74 in a stock turbo LB7 application to comment on that.

No one stated the 1057 to be a racing converter and you are correct it isn't. The only pure racing converter I think of from Suncoast is the 10531. However the 1057 has been in used for racing applications on many occasions. Lets not forget the 1057's nickname.
