With 235/85/16 on the truck the speedo is reading 70mph while the GPS shows 72mph. The truck came with 245/75/16s. Does this sound right?

Not really but GPS isnt going to lie.I had a cav that had 205 55 16s and i installed 215 55 16 and i know its not a huge differance you could tell they were taller for sure and the gps and speedo were rite on with the taller tires.With 315 70 17s at 65 on the speedo im at 72 mph on gps
Yes, the 235/85 is a fair bit taller tire hence speedo reading slower than you're actually going.
