Tire sensor let the air out of my tire

While pulling my 40ft toy hauler I stopped to get fuel and all of a sudden the passenger front tire went flat. What the hell. Lucky the wife was in her car following me so I jacked truck up took it off and sent her to get it fixed. They said the sensor went bad and decided to let all the air out.
I never heard of such chit.

O ring may have gone or the housing cracked. Nothing super new, the steel valve stems that bolt into a rim like to do the same with old o rings
