Does anyone happen to have a part number for the TPMS that'll work with the GMT-800 trucks and allow the actual pressure to be dieplayed on the DIC (06+, I believe)?

I am not aware of TPMS on any GMT-800 platform. Have you seen this possible somewhere? There are a few good aftermarket systems out there.

I like the looks of this one here. http://www.tsttruck.com/Product_List.html

Yes....the 2005+ GMT-800 SUV's (tahoes, burbans) had TPMS. I believe the GMT-800 "luxury" SUV's (escalade/denali) got TPMS in 2004.

from 2004-2005 the TPMS merely said "low tire" in the DIC when the pressure got below a certain level. Starting in 2006 (I think), the last year of the GMT-800's, the DIC could display the actual tire pressure's "LF TIRE - XX PSI"

Dave im not sure of the part number though..maybe find a VIN of a 2006 GMT-800 and ask the dealer for TPMS sensors for it?

Not tryin to screw this thread but is there a way to disable the TPS system? My dad Escalade has a bad sencor and doesn't really care to fix it, but it has a light on and a message in the DIC. Just curious how to turn it off

ok nvmind...my info was a little incorrect...

In 2004, only the lux SUV's had it, and it was a "basic" TPMS; it didnt show pressures or which tire was low, it just said "low tire". Those sensors have a range of 0-51psi.

It was 2005 (not 2006 like I originally stated) when all GMT-800's got the "advanced" TPMS that showed actual tire pressure of the individual wheels. The new style sensors have a range of 0-102psi. :)

So theoretically, any 2005-2006 GMT-800 TPMS sensors should work fine, even for us HD guys...the threshold just has to be programmed higher (because we run higher pressure than the light duty's)...

Just a warning. Once you enable TPMS in the PDM, you cant turn it off/disable it....

so dave...you're gonna be a guinea pig here...if it doesnt work, you'll be stuck with a constant "service tire monitor" message in your DIC. :D

(unless you get a new PDM)

ok heres something kinda weird I found.

when looking at the service manual, for the 2005+ GMT-800's, it says the sensors have a range of 0-102psi...but when you look in the "scan tool data definitions" it says the tech 2 will only display a range of 0-51psi????

But what im thinking is that page of the service manual was copied from the 2004 TPMS (which had sensors limited to 51psi, not 102psi like the 05+ sensors) documents, and GM never bothered to update it until the GMT-900 service manuals. Because if the sensors in the 05+ GMT-800's are capable of reading 0-102psi, theres no reason the PDM shouldnt be able to say that same 0-102psi reading to a tech 2 or the DIC.

so im thinking as long as you use 05+ sensors and program the PDM correctly, it will indeed read out correctly in the DIC.

Because standard tahoe/suburban tire pressure is what, 40-ish psi cold? When the tire gets smoking hot Ill bet it could rise above 51psi... so I think the service manual for the 05-06 GMT-800's is an accidental error and they forgot to revise it when they switched to the "advanced TPMS" in 2005.

I really need to find a 2005-2006 GMT-800 and plug my tech 2 into it and see if they will actually register above 51psi, or whats the highest they can be programmed to. My dads tahoe is only an 03 so I cant really test it out on that....

Well I did not know that. Thanks for the correcting me. Just never noticed options like that over the years. I guess i went from a 2003 2500 Avalanche to the current 2007.5 Silverado HD.

The 2500/2500HD/3500 GMT-800's did NOT get TPMS. I dont beleive the GMT-800 light duty 1500 trucks got it either....I THINK it was only the SUV's.

Just wonder since spent about 2 or 3 years looking at duramax before finally buying one so the Avalanche was the longest vehicle i have ever kept. Was a traded about every year before that. But now with this truck I say i keep it for a long time. Just never noticed TPMS in the brochures.

thats because your avalanche was a 2500. GMT-800 2500/2500HD/3500 trucks/SUV's didnt get TPMS. ;)

Interesting... It appears that some of the GMT-800 and GMT-900 sensors MIGHT be the same. I found a site that has "Aftermarket" sensors (no, I'm not going to get aftermarket sensors), and it seems that the same sensors that work on a 2005 1500 Suburban will also work on a 2006. I also found some fleabay adds that have corss reference for that p/n and it lists a bunch of 2005-2006 vehicles. If I'm not mistaken, there where no 2006 GMT-800 Suburbans... Anyway, the OE part number they claim is for the 2005 Suburban is 15114379. Can anyone confirm?

Yes there were...every GMT-800 (burban, tahoe, escalade, etc) was available for the 2006 model year...

there were NO -900's for the 2006 model year.

Ahh, you know what has me off my rocker? It's the 07 MY with how the HD trucks didn't become GMT-900's until half way throught he year but the 1500's were GMT-900's. :screwy:

Anyway, on the TPMS topic, does the spare usually get one or not?
