I'll save you my long, sad story. But I'm trying to get back into a truck. I've been wanting to do another diesel again. I don't have much money for the time being, but I only need the truck to last a couple years. Then I'll be able to upgrade to a much newer and lower mileage truck. I found this 2006. It has 260,000 miles, but according to the Carfax, it looks like it underwent meticulous maintenance. I'm hoping a few guys here a lot smarter than me can weigh in on whether or not this is a good idea. Thanks in advance for all the knowledge I'm going to pick up here..... and the many, many hours I'm going to "waste" cruising around this forum

At the time I posted this, there was 69 views and not even one comment on the truck. Did I phrase this one wrong? What do you guys think about it? Solid purchase? Should I expect to get at least 2 years and 40,000 miles out of it?

I think, hey its a running LBZ, a VERY CLEAN LBZ, under 10G and you can probably whittle that down some, so yeah, its a solid "deal"
Looks like it was a service truck that covered alot of ground, but was impeccably dealer maintained...I see a red wire hanging from below the dash on the DS, maybe a power lead for a brake controller? And I see what looks like a programmer as well...just things to consider

Is it going to last 2 years and 40,000mi
LOL
Hold on, let me check my crystal ball....
Crystal Ball is on the Fritz, and magic 8 ball says "come back tomorrow"

Things I'd worry about is:
EGR failure
CP3 failure
Injector failure
Rotor replacement
U-joint replacement
Exhaust system components failure
Body to frame bushing replacement
I'd look really good at all the seals and drain points
Axle's? Dunno the ecpected lifespan of an AAM 11.5

I personally wouldn't worry about any of it, cuz I can do almost all the work and can typically get the expensive parts from the forum for a great deal...so, a CC/SB LBZ for under 10 is solid...but I'd hammer the seller on the trim package and ANY FLAW and try to get it for less

And actually, (not to knock the truck youre looking to buy) with its lack of trim level, lack of 4x4 and the high mileage I'd try to get it down to 9g out the door homie! With a FULL tank of fuel and a bottle of Diesel Kleen ;)

Looks clean and well serviced. Mileage is higher but they've certainly been known to outlast 260k so no reason it shouldn't keep on going. Offer something lower and go from there, they bought it auction and its options/ configuration aren't super desirable so maybe you could score it cheap

I'd go in low and try and get the best price possible and I wouldn't look back

Same here ECSB aren't that common anymore..
I know several guys (hotshots) that have well north of 260k on axle.. Change oil good to go..
My cp3/injectors are still running strong, just rolled 260k on my LMM
Delete egt crap problem fixed lol

Doesn't look ragged out either and PO was definitely ontop of maintance..

I'd definitely start in around 7G they probably got it at auction for 5-6 maybe less..

Thanks again, guys. I had it inspected just to be safe. It's solid.... but I got denied on the loan, so it looks like I'm going to be lurking a while before I try again some time next year.

Has the LLY badges on the door. and the 8th VIN digit is a 2 Not a D so its the lower HP LBZ motor of the 06 year. but that is easy to fix with a tune.
