Is that price for trading your trans for his or for just buying it outright?

Can't really say much on price until I know that. But either way the ATS stage 3 doesn't have the best reputation. Their biggest selling point is their warranty - which won't transfer to you. My vote goes to continuing to save your money and getting a new build with all the right parts, or at the very least a used build with the right parts.

buying it outright as far as i know...so i figure can get a good 6-800 for my trans one its out.. but thats probably gonna just cover the install price

why do you say it doesn't have the best reputation? when was the whole clutch delamiation thing resolved? ill have to get a build date for this trans

Beech, Ive seen the way you use your truck and I can tell you a "used" ATS isnt going to last you. You need to call George and have him build you a much better trans for a little more money and not worry every time you give her hell that its not going to hold up

George is the man but i just dont have the cash to do it now...he quoted me 4k+....

i figured if i got that ats for 2500 or so i could sell my stock one for 800ish so that gets me down to around 1700 then i could sell some other stuff to get that much...but who knows

don't buy that used trans... if you can afford 2500$ wait, I'm telling you it will be worth it. George will warranty his trans for sure. You have no idea the condition that those clutches are in.

Just setting aside who built it or what company parts are in it, I'd look at it this way (b/c I've done this thought process myself many times). If you beat on your truck (have fun in other words) a used tranny is only going to get you so much time (IMO - which usually isn't worth even 2 cents) and you'll be doing it all over again (refreshing it) anyways. Add that cost to the purchase and R&R fees for both install and refresh and I don't think it's worth it. Better to sell all those other things, save up and build it new with whatever/whoever you want. I would suggest George too since you're right there. That just how I looked at it anyways.

oops - I type too slow - they beat me to it. haha

And that's the big thing - how many people buy a built transmission to take it easy on it? 58K miles of abuse is quite a bit.

George's price is right there with anyone else that is building them right with quality parts. It can be done cheaper and with cheaper parts but I hear horror stories and have to fix those transmissions all the time. Get it done right the first time and be done.
