Thoughts about My 01 Lb7 Longevity

Hey guys, my first thread ever! I have a beauty I bought September 2015 from a Texas owner, ec sb, burgundy. Had 210.5 when I handed the check over, 10 min after sale, it stalled. Long story short, cheap no name lift pump crapped and trashed cp3, then without screw driver primed fuel filter head and caused the seals to fail on it. All is fixed and well now $2200 last owner paid 1000 towards repairs, he's a mechanic and felt bad after 10 minuets after sale That it died on me. We both had no idea it was about to crap out on me as he had driven from Texas to Indianapolis to meet me as a halfway point. It had stock exhaust pipe with muffler delete, aem brute force intake, and a superchip micro max tuner running 70-75hp, injectors were done at 150,000, recent brake on front and new tires on rear, also recent paint job of factory color, also came with boost and egt guage (autometer lunar guages) aftermarket radio and front speakers(crap speakers can't handle bass at all) I put my audiobahn 10" subs in a new box, and under the rear seat they went. All in all decent buy for 10.5k. I have since installed new filter for brute force as old one had holes in materiel, sinister diesel 4inch muffler turbo back, mbrp down pipe, profab intake horn, left on superchip 70-75hp tune and soon doing BD full bore left manifold with egt probe. I also purchased Edge CTS 2 Insight, works good, fuel mileage doesn't work right but it shows how uncalibrated my actual guages are, ex. Tach says 350rpm idle, cts shows 600, oil pressure guage motor is junk, at idle warm it's way before the numbers, and temp guage hits 160 while cts shows 110°. I also got tow mirrors for christmas, I also put ppe boost valve on. I am am an enthusiastic driver who enjoys the g's produced from her and the turbo whistle and exhaust notes, lol. But on straight 60+ mph roads it see's cruise control the entire time. City driving is mild unless I see competition some times, hehe. Just wondering if you lb7 owners have any advice or experience on longevity before I have to worry about doing rods or studs maybe in summer of 2016 here. I always since ownership run cetane boost and anitgel in winter, only the first tank driving back from indiana did it not have fuel additive. 1 injector #7 is running at +3.1 others around zero, so tis weekend doing that upper end injector cleaner. Truck now resides in michigan but as of this post in January I'm in MN running -22 windchill vacation with dad. Truck now has 218k Last owner was second owner, bought with 20 something thousand miles. Says the hardest it ever worked was hauling race car trailer 5 miles to track and back once. But how badly the rear rotors were warped I would guess either Texas heat got to them or he enjoyed burnouts. My uncle knows the guy, and uncle referred me to the truck for sale. I have towed Dads 12' enclosed trailer 3 times, 1St fully loaded 667 miles from MN to MI, ran 740-760egt and 5-7 p/boost, 2nd wasn't loaded enough to work hard, and 3rd Empty, recently back to MN running almost 800 egt in headwinds entire time, 7-10psi on straight flat sections. I had also clay barred and waxed front of trailer to make for better air flow, huge difference between washed and waxed from rest of just washed up trailer, was like glass after that. Rest of time it is daily driver, and my only fully operational vehicle as I blew heads on my 01 Seville STS n* with 236k on the clock, Sitting waiting for me to decide what to do with it. lol

At least on the 01, Theres an ash tray light, i put led in so it doesnt burn out cause its non stop when exterior lights are on, had to take driver dash face plate off amd air bag switch cluster out to even see it and be able to change it, worth it though, I also have high idle mod coming in mail on tuesday the 12th from ppe, it goes above air bag switch, worth it also First pic is of coolant cross over hose that was leaking thought it was water pump until i took of fan to have it be a sight for sore eyes, cheap cheap fix, was prepared to spend hours doing water pump to have a 15 min repair ahead of me,

Well I'm a believer and the Lord let me know he wasn't going to leave me high and dry on that broke down situation, plus my uncle would have put a Texas boot up his a** if he left me with a repair bill, lol Gotta Love family, What power setting is your cousin running. Ive put mine on the 95 tune to see what it would do, and it got up to 1100egt with 27psi boost with my winter bra on in 25 weather or 950egt with bra off, but on 75 tune it doesnt hit 850 27psi, huge power difference though, i put the trans into limp mode as i was doing 65 pushing pedal further down it tried to slip into 5th from lock up doing 75 by then, acted like i blew transmission cause i had to pull over and clear codes before i had any gears to shift, has been fine since, scared the crap out of me though, didnt help trans was 1/2 quart low on fluid, was hard shifting before i filled it back up.

Well, we just got done doing the ppe high idle for 01-02 dmax, it sits right above the airbag switch and my subwoofers switch, was an absolute B in -10 degree weather, the ecm harness and everyother harness is stiffer than a turd, numb numb numb, but it works, flip switch and 850, hit deaccelerate on cruise control, 1250, hit accelerate 1700, worth it when it's - degrees and need it to actually warm up instead of sit frozen while idling,

Well as of today, my BD performance full bore manifold is done, seems to start tad faster, about 15 mile test drive kinda revealed a bit smoother less laggy acceleration, less egt doing 70 aswell maybe by 25-50 degrees, well see mileage gains as time goes on and I'm not running errands, lol:thumb:
P.s. we also used old heat sheild, had to bend it a bit to get it on, and could only install 3 of 4 bolts prob cause bending it unaligned the hole or something

Why didn't you just get the LML manifold?
The BD manifold is full bore, and was already tapped and ported for an egt probe, it was only $150 per maifold, mine didn't need the egt probe cause last owner put the probe in the up pipe behind left manifold, but the manifold came with a plug the egt goes into, and a whole plug to plug it. Dads on the other hand needs the egt probe, so it works out. We are right now in process of undoing the stuff to pull motor out and do a swap on his truck.

Today we Changed transmission fluid with the transynd and allison filter, also the hydro boost/powersteering fluid, brakes are stiffer/more sensitive, still need to bleed brakes after doing the rear hub bearings inner and outer with races and seals.the transmission shifts bit smoother, has shifted bit rough since I bought it mainly cause it was 1/2-3/4 quart low, and I didn't discover it till early December 2015, next after the bearings, change fluid in differential house with new gasket, also at that point will be doing the front ball joints with moog upper and lowers, then from merchant auto the lower shock extention bracket so we can turn the bolts to level truck, then get it aligned, lol

Thoughts about My idea of making my truck air ride all the way round. Firestone level-rite air shocks on front, and autoflex leaf spring replacement on rear. Me coming out of a Cadillac I would like my truck to ride softer when unloaded and be just as tough when loaded up.:)

Dude that system looks crazy good, I'd think I'd get it if I was towing full time but it's always up to the end user

I've heard good things about the levelrite from other duramax users, and the autoflex has been installed on a duramax on a video, it's hard to find but I've watched it a few times, and a complete review from Mr.Truck.com who installed it on his f250 and showed a video of suspension while he was towing a horse trailer and zip zagging is if going around cones, measuring the stopping distance, and full throttle, how much more stable it is than leaf Springs is pretty incredible,

Well today I was wanting something new for the truck accessory wise, so I went over to radco and purchased a dee-zee tailgate assist and pop&lock tailgate lock, works well, I'm content, lol Last night we spend about 4 hours doing rear hub bearings and seals, also changed out rear diff fluid, used Timken bearings and amsoil diff fluid and a reusable diff cover seal, top shelf I guess, lol also had to get new parking break shoes cause rear seals had failed and was left with oil soaked shoes that weren't adjusted right that they weren't funtional, got all parts from rock auto, and I got screaming deal on brake shoes, oreilly wanted 94.99 for Wagner severe duty rear shoes( all they had) and rockauto wanted and got, lol 23.99 for the same exact brand and model shoes. Score, lol all works well now, have to wait for my order from merchant auto that has my extended lower shock mounting brackets before I do ball joints(moog), so can do it all and then get it aligned next day after joints and leveling,

Yesterday we got the ball joints in and the truck leveled and aligned, after alignment there is very little difference between front and rear. I kept the left a 1/8in lower than right kinda like factory, seems okay tracks straight, doesn't pull, but for some reason I can't keep one of the rears tires in balance, one of them keeps throwing a weight giving me vibration at 50 and little bit at 75, and reverberation of bumps in cab alot, shakes you up. Thoughts why it keeps throwing weight?

Well, today I installed my new pair of raineater wipers, we'lol see how they do, as I was running rain-x latitude wipers and the one on the passenger side started streaking, and of course me being an automotive detailer I clean them regularly, and being a perfectionist, this streaking wasn't going to be okay with me, lol But on the upside we got Dads motor picked up from pams auto in St. Cloud, 04 vin 2 181,000 no turbo out of a wreck, gonna be putting that in a few weeks from now, doing studs and egr delete, pvc reroute, down pipe and intake, has exhaust already.

Today I installed the drl mod since I had put 80w projector led in drl's and reverse lights, got 4- 1n-4002 diodes (only need 1) and finished install, silver band on diode pointing towards drl relay from headlight relay between pins 87, crammed it in there and bam, here are the results. Sorry my camera sucks since I broke the camera lens

Which bulbs did you use?

Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

Genssi cree 80w 3157 led off of ebay, 25 bucks and I'm very happy with them, you can also get them on amazon and read reviews there but definitely cheaper on ebay, now when I got bulbs the projector does jiggle around, but I'm living with it cause they are bright as frigg, lol
