I paid $75 to have 4 more injectors 2nd day aired to me so I could have my truck up and running this weekend and guess what happens?? #2 pops right out, #4 seems stuck so I give it a few light taps with a hammer and move on. #6 and #8 pop right out. Go back to #4 still stuck so I pull harder on the tool. Finally pops loose and coolant goes everywhere. I pull it out and the injector cup is seized to the injector  . I put a little heat to it with the torch and was able to pull them apart, but not easily. It was all full of rust and now I can't get the metal gasket out of the bottom. So I'm stuck, a wasted $75 later. I know y'all can't speak for all dealerships but is this injector cup thing something that's usually special order or do they keep them in stock?? It's 7:30 here and dealerships are closed till the morning.

If you taped on#4 you might want to pull the cup and reseal/seat it. I would reseal all of theme whale its open.

No biggie, and about resealing the rest. I didn't think I'd have to, the whole time I've had the truck it hasn't lost any coolant. And the rest of the injectors came out looking nice and clean so hopefully all will be ok. Time will tell

Its really cheap insurance to reseal them all with red loctite while your in there buddy. If you dont have the means to pull just the cup theres a diy thread for a cup removal tool that you can get all the stuff from homedepot for and it all cost like $5. IMHO I think you should do them all while youre there

I think I'd reseal all 4 cups while you're in there if it were me. Hate to have unknowingly loosened one during the R&R of the injectors & get it all back together just to find you have one leaking. Then you'd have to tear it all back down to do them anyways.

^ X1,000,000 Think of how pissed you are now then multiply that till your actually laughing at the whole situation if you have to take it all back apart to reseal a cup later!
Just do it, you already made a mistake by not draining the coolant, and they usually just keep coming after the first one.

I'm pissed now, but that's not the reason. I was able to pull the other 3 out and I resealed them along with the one I replaced. However I did not do a compression test before I started messing with the drivers side. Wish I would have now because I am pretty sure it's melted a piston or something. It idles like crap (better with 8 new injectors but still not like normal), smokes blue at idle and when revved up and has quite a bit of blow by coming from the oil cap. Also has a strong hot oil smell to it at the front of the motor, even with the cap on. Doing a compression test tomorrow if I can find an adapter for my gauge to verify. But my gut feeling is I'll be pulling the motor for a full rebuild pretty quick.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that but rpm motorsports has a known good lb7 with 103k for $2500 to get you back on the road fast for cheap then you can get an engine stand and start a REAL build and acquire parts slowly. Thats what im going to try to do soon

Nothing against them but I'm not buying a used motor. With the luck I've had the past 2 weeks with this truck and other things going on I just can't take that chance

Are you going to rebuild yours or buy a reman? You can build yours with better parts (but no warranty of course) for similar money as a reman like from Jasper & don't even think about new from GM!

That's sucks to hear of your trouble though! :(

I want to rebuild mine. I've had great luck and the worst luck with crate motors. I've rebuilt a couple gas motors and more 4 wheeler engines than I can count. So I shouldn't have a problem jumping up to a Duramax

Found the problem!! went to harbor freight today and bought the compression tester. Got home and started pulling glow plugs and look what I find:
That's the #4 glow plug, bent pretty good. I ran the compression test on all cylinders anyway, all but #4 were right around 400psi. #4 came in with a whopping 50  psi. Seems I've found the problem

The shop that sells jasper engines near me backs them with a 100k warranty, hard to beat IMO

I just looked them up, at around $7,000 that's a little out of my price range. Mine can be rebuilt for a little over half of that hopefully. :thumb:
