I had to pull the engine again just because the machine shop used the wrong freeze plugs. The aftermarket ones they put in are about a half a mm smaller than the OEM ones. The plug was under the drivers motor mount and completely gone.

Wow, that sucks man. Thanks for sharing, will make sure to never use anything other than OEM plugs

I didn't ask him to use aftermarket ones either. That is a tough learning experience. Its one of those easily overlooked items.

Oh shit! That sucks man. My motor is just about done. You have me thinking about going to threaded ones.

Hope they help with the cost on this. Good luck.

They make a plug that you stick in the hole and tighten a nut up that sets it tight in place, could you use one of those instead of pulling the engine?

Stupid question probably but how come you have to pull the motor? Can't squeeze them in there while its in the truck?

You might could with either unbolting bell housing to rotate the engine enough or remove the front axles and pumpkin. With everything considered I thought it was easier to pull the engine out. They do not go in that easy. I looked for any kind of specialty tools that I felt would get the job done buy didn't find any.
