Does anyone here race a late model dirt car? I've been around them for years but don't know much about setting them up. But I always wanted one. Well I found a turn key car with a 423 SBC and trailer for $6000. The guy is also willing to trade....was thinking about getting rid of my roller Buick. What do you think?

Find out if the classes near you have claimer rules, where if you win somebody else can "claim" your motor for a small fee. Thats the main reason I went 360 Sprint Car (No Claimer)!

I race latemodels in the PA MD VA area. There are no such claimer rules. Honestly you cant even build a motor for $6000 so this guy is definately trying to pass of some junk. If you would like I can steer you in the right direction. Shoot me a pm.

Look at the classifieds at rocketchassis.com that will give you an idea what good equipment costs. New cars are 20-30k. You can pick up a used one for around $10k. A good SB2 13* or 18* motor can cost upwards of $20k also. All Steel 358cu in motors for Limited latemodel classes cant be built for less than $10k. I have an all steel 358 that is legal and made 507hp ill sell for $6000.

no claimer rules here, theres also very few rules on the motor, needs a carb 2 valves per cyl and some sort of production syle head, but since fords could run yates because of the cleavland they allow chevys to run sb2s, most fast cars run stroked 410 sprinter motors, u could even run a big block if you wanted

Correct, since nascar went to the new R07 head and block or whatever its called Latemodel guys have bought up alot of SB2 heads. Most run smallblocks between 400 and 430cu in and use SB2, 13* or 18* heads. Obviously this is chevy talk there are some good ford and mopar motors out there, I just dont know anything about them.
