Can drive on Daytona Beach too. My wife is from there so I've been plenty, though it's been a few years now. It's not my fav place to go. There are nicer beaches IMO. Some of the restaurants & bars are great though. I always make it a point to go to Inlet Harbor restaurant at the end of the peninsula. It's great eating & have live music on wknds. Scenery, if you know what I mean
, is nice bc the big offshore boats can dock at the marina & come in for a good time. Boats n hoes, right?!.
I prefer the gulf side of FL for beach-going. Prettier water & beaches IMO.
If bringing fam/kids, there's def lots to do in Orlando but no real beaches.
Going as far south as Miami gets the opportunity to go on airboat tours & such in the Glades. That can be fun. Some great fishing everywhere in FL if you wanted to charter a day of fishing.
Unless you had weeks to spend coming & going so you could see more places along the way, I'd be trying to fly & rent a car when I got there.
