Like the title says, I'd like to plan a road trip in the next month to Miami. Any pointers? I've never went that far before and am looking forward to it! Maybe see a few members along the way to shoot the shit?

It was -44 here with the wind a few days ago so I'm REALLY looking forward to planting my ass in the sand:D

Nick I've done it, was a long azz drive 26 hours each way. We stopped in Gainesville fj both says for a few hours sleep.

I'd love to go back sometime to enjoy it. We flew out on our honeymoon.

Yeah i can tell it'll take a while lol But I'm kinda looking forward to it.
How many times did you end up stopping to sleep? What about fuel cost? I'm figuring about $1000 there and back.

Thanks for the info:thumb:

We stopped one time each way for a few hours of sleep. Probably 4-5 hours of sleep on a 20 hour trip.

We literally spent $200 in fuel there and back.. Took the wife's cavalier, figured it up and it was going to be about $1500 in my dmax. Just looked it up and it looks like it was about a 2500 mile round trip..

Good idea. I done the same thing after Christmas. Spent New Years in Daytona on the beach. And several days recovering. Haha

St Augustine is a really cool place to visit. Has the port and tons of cool shops. You can stop off in Palm coast theres a huge harley store right off exit 284 if your into that stuff. Right next to a good bbq place. Also check out ocean deck bar in Daytona. It's right on the beach and gets nuts at night time.

I would give you tips on Miami but I'm not usually sober enough after leaving daytona to make the extra 200 mile trip :roflmao:

Thats a long ride but lots of sight seeing on the way if you want to stop. Could always stop down south for some BBQ and all that jazz. If your curious about fuel there are a few websites that have a fuel trip calculator. I think AAA has one.

St Augustine is a cool place for sure. Especially if you're into the tourist thing. I grew up in that area. Daytona is nice too. Both have beautiful beaches and I know St Augustine/crescent beach can be driven on.

I make it a rule to avoid Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami. Too much traffic and too many people.

Jacksonville sucks ! I just noticed the op is from Canada, man there are a ton of places you could go before you even hit Pensacola Florida. Then again I'm from a small southern town. Any town longer than 8 square miles is exciting to me :D

I'll stop giving advice now. Good luck on your trip, hope you have a blast

Can drive on Daytona Beach too. My wife is from there so I've been plenty, though it's been a few years now. It's not my fav place to go. There are nicer beaches IMO. Some of the restaurants & bars are great though. I always make it a point to go to Inlet Harbor restaurant at the end of the peninsula. It's great eating & have live music on wknds. Scenery, if you know what I mean ;) , is nice bc the big offshore boats can dock at the marina & come in for a good time. Boats n hoes, right?!. :D

I prefer the gulf side of FL for beach-going. Prettier water & beaches IMO.

If bringing fam/kids, there's def lots to do in Orlando but no real beaches.

Going as far south as Miami gets the opportunity to go on airboat tours & such in the Glades. That can be fun. Some great fishing everywhere in FL if you wanted to charter a day of fishing.

Unless you had weeks to spend coming & going so you could see more places along the way, I'd be trying to fly & rent a car when I got there.
