I dont see too much wrong with it though - I guess that makes me a redneck LOL

scares me and I'm fearless

with the couple of bolts holding them up, much side load and they'll just collape. might be different if it was hilti bolted to concrete or put X braces on it.

No kidding... not a single triangulated point in the whole thing. And relying on bolt strength to hold it together is even scarier.

He's just asking for a glorified domino effect resulting in a car on his head.

tranny jack?? for a mousetang?? .... trans prolly weighs 5... maybe 10 lbs. :D

i think its a novel idea. its like you get an adrenaline rush everytime you work on your car. never know when the damn thing is gonna fall on you.... die under it instead of in it.

:eek::eek:

I've done some homeade stuff before, but I wouldn't try that. At least my homeade stuff was engineered so I knew it would work.

The last picture from the front of the Rustang shows a lot.... look at the sag in the wood "rails". An accident waiting to happen.

I had to lift a truck off a guy once that was underneath the rear end with the axle supported by a couple of bottle jacks. He was fortunate we were out surveying in his neighborhood and that he wasn't under the axle. He wound up with a split finger and compressed heart, instead of "squashed like grape".

The bad thing is, how many other Rustang owners will duplicate this after seeing it on the forum??

Wholly Sh!t, a prime example of... Cheaper aint better!
Good Idea, Horrible Exicution!

I'd like to do it with a few exeptions:

1. I hate wood, Steel is the awnser and welded at that!
2. Triangulation out the @ss
3. Much wider
4. Build it to hold twice the weight you intend to put on it!
5. If i did, make it usable! (the "human compactor" he built is would be a PITA to work around)

Does anybody have any old wagon lifts from the farm or elevators? We scrapped ours years ago. Does anybody know what I'm referring to? I always thought the frame would make a good gantry.

Back before they had gravity flow wagons and hydraulic dump boxes you would run the wheels of your grain truck or wagon onto the lift and it would lift one end of which ever to dump the grain into the pit.
