2014 Cruze diesel. Found this one online, went and took a look at it today, drove it and was pleasantly surprised, haggled with the sales mgr for a while, then traded the Aurora in for it (+ $$).

Man, this thing scoots! Quiet on the highway, which I didnt expect.

I cant wait to find out what it'll do with d*l*t*s and good tuning once the powertrain and emissions warranties are up (which'll be a while). 40+ mpg on the way home on the freeway. Thats double what the Aurora got.

I see what some people say about the odd transmission shift schedule, but that's not anything I cant deal with.

Nice. Although im not sure if the Cruize would be big enough, I wish we could have found a low mileage diesel cruizes to look at when we were looking for something to replace my wifes TDI with. But they are like hens teeth. And the few I found 'nearby' had way more miles than we wanted. Ended up with a '15 Malibu 2LT 2.0T. Not a bad car, but the mileage isnt close to tge TDI or what a diesel cruize would be. But its better than my AWD CTS lol.

Initial impressions:

-- Oh brother, Im going to get in trouble with this car. :roflmao: You get up to 45-55mph so quickly and smoothly that you look down at the speedo and go, "Oh shit" and quickly look around for police.
-- It likes to cruise at 75-80mph on the highway.
-- I dont know why, but I like the sound of the little diesel when its idling.
-- Goddam car sure is quiet at highway speeds with the windows up.
-- I understand the need for the "idiot sensors" now. There's a lot of legroom, but the seat adjustment for tall people pushes you back next to the B pillar, almost behind it. This turns both front seats into HUGE blind spots. So mirror aim is critical. For me, its not that big a deal b/c Im so used to using mirrors, but for other people I can see the problem.
-- Another problem associated with sitting so far back is the amount of wind hitting me square in the face when the windows are down.
-- I havent had a car with steering this sensitive since my Mustang. Small inputs yield big changes. Taking some getting used to.
-- Brakes could use some refinement. They like to grab, and have some fade when cold. Could just need maintenance.
-- Transmission does hunt quite a bit at low speeds. I understand Fleece's tuning fixes most of that.
-- Im getting 45mpg and its fun to drive. Yeah, the other stuff I can deal with.

Congratulations on the new ride..

I bought one in January when vw bought back my jetta. I do really like mine, it's a lot nicer than my 09 jetta was. Just little things I've noticed that could be better. But can't complain about the fuel milage and they are noise at idle. I always get people running up to me at sheets thinking my car is broke or yelling that I'm putting diesel in my car.

The down falls I've noticed is they are small. Not much room in the back seat for the kids. However the front seats do slide back way father than I'd need. I wish the passenger side window went up automatically like the drivers side. The def fill location really is a pain in the add epically since I added a weather tech trunk liner. They could've found a better place for the oil filter also.

I think if they weren't so expensive new they would've sold like crazy. I heard they are bringing them back in 2018.. overall though with my average fuel milage being 43-46mpg and a best 50 mile average of 52.5 I can't complain at all about it.

So.....Fleece or Trifecta for tuning these things? ;) Honestly, Im having fun driving this little car already. It'll be verrryy interesting with a 50hp tune on it. :hehe:

I see what you meant about the Dexos2 oil. Hard to find, at least inexpensively. Merchant sells it, but is very proud of it.

It's probably not Merchant that's proud of it. The Mobil 1 that I had to use in our old TDI was stupid expensive at orilleys. An oil change for that was more than an oil change for my truck and it used half the oil!!

Yeah, I laughed at that. Must've just let off the gas. :hehe:

There was too much traffic ahead to find out what the speed limiter is set at. I will soon enough. ;)

Talked the wife into getting one last year. She ended up loving it. I want to play with it but she says I have to wait till the warranty is up..... only 25k miles or so left.

Im just having fun with mods right now. :roflmao: You guys all know me.....

Little bit of chrome, little bit of silver, both to break up all the "white".

Better tires!!! GoodYear tires just arent what they used to be. Kumho Solus TA71s were a good compromise. Quiet, good handling.

Got me a Nav unit to install.... Just waiting to hear back from a vendor that can reprogram these modern radios. (Thanks again for all the insight Nate!)

Had to buy a new DPF pressure differential sensor. Big f-ing deal....$26 and easy as hell to install. Runs great and Im having fun driving it and passing people on the freeway.
The car really likes 80mph, too.

God, I am sick.....
