I'm sure some of you have seen me around. I figured I would put together a thread for my truck over here.

Anyways, I bought the truck in Mariah of 2015. It is my first diesel. The truck is a loaded slt with every option available. It was love at first sight lol. I picked it up for 30k with 108k miles on it. The truck had a 4" mbrp downpipe back exhaust on it and was tuned with something. Other then that it was all stock besides the wheels and tires.

Here's how she sat the first day I got her.

The diesel bug had bit me hard right away. First thing I did was ordered efi live from ppei. Then I got my fass and egr blocker plate in along with some tie rods sleeves and a dhd brace. I also did a pcv reroute around this time too.

Truck stayed that way for a bit then I finally got a Intake, downpipe, cts2, banks hotside tube. I decided I wanted to take it out to the track for the first time which was fall of 2015. My best run was a 13.62 on stock trans and I was dam happy. It was my first time ever being down a drag strip.

Then came some 2" drop shackles airbags and shocks. I also had debadged it and plasti dipped the wheels at some point.

This part is when the wife really started to hate the truck. I was gonna get some new tires put on it and figured I would go out on some country roads with my brother In law and get some big burnout videos. She told me not to. Evause I would break something and I didn't listen. Sure enough the trans said I can't take it anymore lol.

So I had to get the truck towed to a shop. I called up mike and he said he wouldn't be able to get me a trans shipped out for a few months. I didn't know about Evan at the time. There's a diesel performance shop close by who installed my fass and egr block plate. He builds allisons and does quite a few Ford motor builds. He's real good buddies with Tim Hecker from busted knuckle performance and Tim taught him the ways around a Allison. Well 5 grand later I had a truck that could move again! Suncoast gmax 6-3 and a 1058 converter was installed.

Shortly after the trans I finally got the new tires. Built trans tunes were also installed at some point and I was happy as ever.

Didn't do much with her at all that winter besides some thermostats oil changes fuel filters etc.

I knew I wanted to get back out to the track the next summer. So I picked up some cognito traction bars.

A beans sump, xd tie rods and a ported rail fitting and race plug were installed over winter also. I needed to do some little things lol.

Next thing that came on the truck couldn't have been done without some great friends over on duramaxforum. I was getting married July of 2017 and had been talking about doing a modded lly turbo swap as I could slowly buy the parts I needed and get it built. Well Russ aka 1trikhd had gotten a big group of guys together and they all pitched in and sent me money for the turbo build as a wedding gift. Brock aka minerigger had offered to do all the turbo work as a part of his gift. Russ and the guys got together a little over $700 bucks and that helped a ton. I cannot thank those group of guys enough!

So the turbo parts started coming in. Found a used lly charger, 10 blade turbine, tct wheel, fingers vanes and a rebuild kit from Midwest turbo. Everything was shipped to Brock where he ported the turbine housing and polished it up. He had sent out the rotating assembly to Midwest turbo to be balanced.

Brock had gotten the turbo all together and shipped back out to me. Thanks again Brock!

At this point I didn't know how the turbo was going to get installed. I hadn't even swapped the downpipe out or did the egr blocker plate. I paid a shop to install it. Well Brock and some other guys persuaded me that I could do the swap and they all gave very good directions. So I talked with my brother in law and he said he would try and help and we could do it in his garage. I figured if i was this far into it I should get some up pipes and a full egr delete. I ordered up some tow flows from Rick and bought a used profab delete pipe off here.

Well the day came and we started tearing everything down one night. Took us about 4 hours to get everything out.

Then the next morning I got the g bridge strap on and we put everything back together. We didn't have any leaks besides the hot side tube needed to be tightened up a little bit after it warmed up. I was all grins at this point :D the turbo sounded so good and I was happier than ever.

Then I had finally taken it out to the track. My best run was a 12.86 with a shitty 1.83 60'. I had cut a 1.77 60' but didn't hit lockup till way late around 60mph. That killed my quarter time.

That's a good write up, I enjoyed reading the thread.

Also that's a nice truck. Graystone is one of my favorite colors on these trucks.

Hey thanks man. It was pretty quickly put together. There's still a lot of little stuff I left out like brakes weather techs sub amp led lighting and what not. It's been a work in progress and I can't wait to do more with it

Great write up, I'm kinda in the same boat as far as my first diesel and getting the bug. Had mine few years now but only mods have been exterior and stereo. Waiting on my tunes from ATP and everything on my sig will be dropped in soon after. Congrats on the funeral, I mean wedding. I hope to get mine down the track this summer as well. Bandimere Speedway here I come.

Lol thanks man. I grew up racing dirt bikes so I've always had a need for speed. Once I got the duramax and figured out they have potential to be quick I was hooked!

Also does anyone know how to get YouTube links to work?

Edit: YouTube links now work in 3rd post!

I love seeing other lmms :). These pics have me sold on drop shackles

My airbags hold the back end up a bit.. I'm planning on taking them out honestly.

Josh, how much did you have in the turbo swap?

Including the cost of the turbo I had right around $1500. That's with Brock doing all the work free. Shipping both ways isn't included in that price either. I then had about $500 in the up pipes and delete tube. With the money from you and all the others I really had right around $800 out of pocket for turbo.

Very nice write up. I'm in the same place as you. Grew up racing dirt bikes, just got my first diesel and have got the bug pretty bad.
