The dreaded pump rub is upon me

I found the tiny holes in the transfer case yesterday. I bought this truck back in July (2003 LB7 with NP263XHD) with 145XXX miles, now has 149XXX and I changed all the fluids in it when I got it. Transfer case was dry. Been keeping a check on it and adding when necessary and finally found the holes yesterday. Wiped clean with lacquer thinner and applied epoxy until I can fix it. I want to fix it right. I been reading about the plastic fork wear and pump rub fix kits. I know I need a new rear housing. Is there a certain kit I can order since it was dry when I bought it and don't know how long? It doesn't make any noise. What parts do I need to replace while I have it off? Any secrets I need to know about while doing this fix? When I get the new rear aluminum housing do I need the pump rub kit as well? Thanks in advance!

Merchant automotive kit rocks. Comes with everything but fluid. I have had great luck jb welding the hole shut. If not rear halfs are cheap on ebay

This exactly.. Ckean and scuff the area, apply jb weld and stick a heat gun pointed at it for about 20 min on low. Let it sit about an hour and reinstall..

Unless your having 4x4 issues I doubt your pump rub is bad enough to have hurt internals.. That usually happens when people drive 10k with no fluid

I assume I have to remove the transfer case from the truck don't I? There is no way to do it still under truck is it? How long does it take to do this?

I've had JB Weld on my case for years now. Mine rubbed through on a trip across the country. Stuck some silicone on it, and drove another 5,000 miles before installing the pump rub kit and JB Weld. That was in 2010, over 50,000 miles and 2 transmissions ago :thumb:
