What is 8" wider than a 4x4 pickup, runs 35" tires stock, has 12" of suspension travel, and reportedly hauls balls in the dirt?

Ford SVT F-150 Raptor 4x4

Seems Ford has beaten everybody to the punch. A true 4x4 off-road pickup instead of just something with stickers and mudflaps.

Not a fan of the front end look and I think it's a little low on power, but think they did a great job with the rest of it.

I drove one about three weeks ago, they are really freekin nice. It was white without the goofy decals. Sticker was 41K and it was loaded. sync, leather, power everything, man step, back up cam, power slider and sunroof..yada..yada. They have huge fox shocks really beefy control arms and the same tires as an H2. It has the clearance lights to keep it legal, it's wiiide. It has the 5 1/2 ft bed. It rides really good on road, I couldn't get the salesman to let me take it off road...
The thing I didn't like? The 5.4. They have a 6.2 coming later, but IMO they shoulda put a charger on it. With a GM engine and trans this thing would be perfect IMO...

Eh, not impressed. Wasnt this supposed to be out a while ago and kept getting pushed back?

Give me $41k and Ill build something that will do a whole lot better than that thing in every respect. I suspect this will be a big hit with the 16-21 year old "bro"
crowd and the like, and youll see the majority of them clean, stickered up with a FAMOUS sticker or GLOVES hand grenade or SOCAL or in the *$'s parking lot, picking up kids from school or at the workplace, not being used for their intended purpose.

Yeah, I can see the socal crowd putting the front even higher, lowering the ass and slapping a bunch of Real Butt Pounder (RBP) accessories on them, rendering them useless and ugly.....

I'm sure it won't be long until we see one with 30"......wheels....barf!

It certianly needed something other than the 5.4 in it. I have a rc/lb 250 with the 5.4 and with 285 firestone mt's it doesn't have enough power to clean them out when you put it in the mud. Other than the motor, I'm impressed.:)

absolutely zero use for a truck like that around here. shoulda wasted their money on putting a smaller diesel in a 150 than making a wide offroad truck. That's sure to be a smaller niche than people wanting diesel powered, light duty pickups.

Here's what impressed me about the concept. For decades everyone has been selling "off-road packages" which were basically window dressing, with no substance. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and Nissan were all guilty.

Finally somebody actually made a real off-road package for a pickup. Don't be surprised if others follow suit.

While the 5.4 would not be my weapon of choice, unless I wanted to shoot out spark plugs and kill people, 300HP is actually more than enough to get you in trouble off-road. I doubt if there is a hill you cannot climb due to lack of HP.

I imagine the Poser Patrol will come out with 12" lift kits within a few weeks and ruin the concept, but still, hats off to Ford for making the badging match the content.

I agree Pat, looks like a pretty cool truck from the videos I have seen.
The host guy is a tool but that hill decent is pretty sweet. I know my truck couldn't be driven like that.
