TH400's balls

so i am rebuilding one for a buddy..

picked up an ATSG to refresh my memory then dug in..

drop the valve body and expect to find 6-7 check balls.... i find 2 the guy fried the TC on it.. and wouldnt move any more.. but before that shifted fine.

my question is... acording to ATSG it needs 6 minum to work. i plan on gettign another 4 and putitng them in their said spots...

i want to know how the shifted with only 2 balls?
and do i really need to put the other 4 in?

It really only needs three to work properly, but i would put all of them back in.

Don't remember. Put all the balls back and be safe. buy a B&M shift plate and all will be well.

hmm.. might do that.

B&M... thought you said you never know what you get with them :baby:


might put a shift kit in it.
