We are trying to get a new sledpulling association together here in Texas. It will be the Texas Diesel Truck Pullers Association.

Now what I need to know from yall is how many would be interested in joining up with a pulling association that will host 4-5 big events a year(so there is more time for people to prepare their trucks) with a decent payout at each pull, and then a very good payout at the end of the season. We are planning on running something similar to the DHRA rules with a few changes, which include running water and hood stacks in the 2.8 and 3.0 and Mods, the mod guys can run nitrous if they so choose.

The classes we have come up with ar as follows...

workstock
2.6
2.8
3.0 or super street
Modified

2wd
2wd modified

over the road trucks

please let us know what you are thinking

thanks

I'm interested. I know in most states with successful pulling associations and a high turnout revolve around local or county fairs. That way there is a lower budget for promotion and location.

That is what they want to do. But the pulling association now only has one class and they will not bend the rules a little to let more people pull. And they haven't thought of adding more classes. This way maybe they(TDTPA) can get alot more trucks involved with different classes.

What are the rules on the super street and modified? I'd sure like to give it a try.

if its the one in the pic with the supercharger you would have to either run modified (with the appropriate safety equipment) or the open run whatcha brung class...

the rules have not been finalized yet we will be having a meeting next weekend with the founders and officials to lock in some definate rules.

keep the ?'s coming

and if there are any suggestions of any kind just let me know

Texas is effin huge, but we want to promote the sport to parts of texas that may not see sled pulling very often...

I'll throw some possibilties out but dont take them as a for sure deal... Weatherford, Abilene, Odessa, Austin, Houston, Brownwood, Stephenville, Alvarado, Corpus Christi, and San Angelo

Odessa will probably end up being @ Penwell I know the owner of the drag strip there and weve talked a few times about how cool it would be to have a big sled pull event out there as well.

I will get the dates for soon asap. and try and find out as much as i can about who organizes it. If it doesnt work out i do know that Corpus has a dirt (circle) track and just opened up mud drags. So Sled pulling would go great there!
