Is there a way I can ramp up my fuel pressure to see if my fpr is good or bad, sort of like unplugging the sensor? At idle I always see 4,300psi of rail.every tune reads that at idle, while I hear of other people seeing 5,000psi? I mean it's higher when it hasnt reached operating temp, but thats normal. I need to know if my fpr is causing me to not get the desired rail pressure or is it the cp3. I was hitting the end of the track at only 19,000 psi with a desired of 26,100 last night!

The best way to check your fprv is a bottle test.
Copyed the instructions from another forum member over on DP:

You may or may not code. The way to figure out if your valve is leaking by is the "bottle test". McRat, midwest, and diesel tech described how to do it, I will try though on a LBZ. Its fairly easy to do. Find your fuel rail on the driver side of the block. bout an inch from the end(by the fire wall) there is a nipple sticking out with a peice of rubber hose in a U shap off it. Pop the line off the fuel rail side and stick a bolt or something in the end of the U and plug it. Place a 3' or so section of fuel line onto the nipple on the rail. stick the free end in a liter coke bottle or something and stuff it over on your driver side fender and secure it so it dosnt flop around and spill fuel if it does get any in it. 99% sure the line is 5/16". I found it easier to pop off the return line off the quick disconect. Pull the metal clip retainer off first and then use the quick disconect tool to dissconect it(tool set can be had for 10$ or so) I also pulled the glow plug controler feed wire off for ease of getting my mits in there as its easy to pop off.....just squeeze the sideds and it will pull off pretty easy. Start up the truck and check for leaks

Go flog it real quick and check the bottle. Get it to either drop rail or code on ya. If no fuel is in the bottle then fuel aint sneaking past your relief. If no fuel is sneaking by whats making it harder to sneak by going to fix for ya? Answer is nothing.

You may still be draining the rail......but its not in the relief. Also just becasue its blowing off the relief(puting fule in the bottle) it may not be becasue the relief is weak.

I actually mean the fuel pressure Regulator(fpr), not the fprv. I have the race valve in the fprv and it's damn tight, so I doubt that is the problem. Thank you

Yes, I do belive it's a mechanical issue, we have tried different tunes, I've even tried a different set of dsp tunes from someone else. So it's not in the tuning.

ok,so I ramped fuel rail pressure to 26,180psi and I am only seeing 20,500 psi max of actual fuel rail pressure.would that mean my cp3 is crappin out on me? my airdog self primes,so I am assuming that it works fine..
