I have made countless passes on test n tune nights with my d-max but have never competed in an organized event. I plan to run in the 7.70 index at Rudy's event next month and dont want to look like a complete idiot. I have a few friends on this forum and others I could just call and talk to but I thought an instructional thread would help lots of others out there like me. I know how to go through the motions, staging, bringing up boost, when to leave etc. It would be nice if some of you veterans would chime in and explain how the event plays out. What determins who you line up with from round to round etc? Is there an organizer standing around the staging lanes telling you where to get in line? I know to some these are stupid questions, but if you dont know you dont know. From start to finish how do events play out?

Not sure what your t and t track requires.

Just go slow, no sense in rushing in the lanes. Most tracks I go to courtesy stages.

Wear a helmet, long pants (jogging pants are a great idea in hot weather), closed toed shoes.

Familiarize yourself with what tree they are running (Sportsman, pro etc), getting to the line expecting a sportsman and its a pro is quite a surprise.

And just have fun....:thumb:

Events usually start out by registering.
Then wait a few hours until registration ends,
Go through Tech.
Wait a few hours.
Have a drivers meeting (go over rules/payouts/ schedule of events).
Get in respective lanes
wait more
qualify (usually 2-3 runs down the track)
wait more
announcer calls you back to the pit
they put you in order that you qualified
wait more
then its go time.

:roflmao:

Generally the 7.7 they give you some time to cool off. Depends on who is running it and what the other drivers want.

The class is somewhat as sports bracket. pre determined based off of winners.

Long time ago, Ratlover (remember him?) gave a lot of great advice in this thread at the Place: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77619

IIRC, Pat posted something similar later on in that thread.

Idaho Rob has given some great advice over the years, too, esp on setup. Might be worth a phone call to him to ask your questions.

Jeez I remember reading that when I first got my truck
