I searched but couldn't find. I have a 2003 4500 that the TCM shorted out popping the fuse. I found someone that has a 2004 5500 tcm with the same numbers on it. Are the plug and play ? One guy wants to charge a lot more because he said he has to put my vin and mileage into it, the other guys says plug and play ? Who is correct and are they interchangeable ?

Should be plug and play. There is no milage stored in the TCM, and the VIN isn't neccesary to make it work as I have one with a blank VIN in it that works just fine. The 4500 and 5500 should both use the same calibration. It is different from the 2500/3500 trucks as it is locked into tow/haul mode all the time.
