Well truck was having a problem where it acted like grinding coming from trans/tcase in 4 low and no forward or reverse, would get shift range inhabited but no codes. This is a brand new transfer case I purchased 2 years ago from Tony at All Season/Dirty Hooker.Pulled case out and split it, everything looked good just looking in. Then noticed input shaft had excessive movement, was able to slide input shaft about 1/2" into the case, pulled main shaft and chain out, then was able to pulled the whole planetary and input shaft out without removing any snap rings as the casting that had the snap ring groove to retain the planetary was broken! Has anyone else seen this happen before? Just trying to figure out what caused it to break. where it did.
