Can someone please explain to me how TC characteristics (stall or looseness/ tightness) compliment certain turbos and building boost? in laymen terms preferably;)

... better yet what TC would be recommended for my A5k and why? I currently have a SC 1050 and a transgo going on 60k miles. Mostly street driving with the occasional drag. I would like to upgrade the TC to accommodate my turbo setup if and when my tranny needs rebuilding...which most likely is soon

call mike l ,or ron at suncoast they are the experts , but generally a looser converter like the 1055 would help your a5k spool easier . but dont know the specs on the 1050 ?

I am running a 1055 with a large frame 2.6 charger and it gives me the extra rpm I need to spool in first. I just swapped from a 1057 about two weeks ago. I wish i would have gone with this converter along time ago. The shifts are so smooth and it drives like completely new animal.

The 1055 gets :thumb::hail2:

It wasn't around a long time ago. It was tested on Casper not too long ago.

was the 1057 too loose or tight? still dont understand this concept:eek:

Mike, can my SC 1050 be refreshed to a 1055? and is it worth the swap?

This truck will mostly see street, the occasional drag...its also my DD besides the vespa.:thumb: Will most likely never sled pull.

The 1057 was a quick coupling "tight" converter. Its a ton a fun on the street and strip. The 1055 is a "loose" converter, it allows me to stall to a higher rpm and really light the charger before the truck wants to drive throught the brakes.

IMO the A5k has great spooling charachteristics because of the small exhaust housing so you probably cant go wrong in any direction you go. If it were me I would go with the 1055

that makes a lot more sense to me now, If I can get SC to convert my 1050 to a 1055 I will most likely have it done.

:rofl: Im sure he only wears one shirt, and its from the 70s. That was actually taken at a college porn debate in NY:banana:

the new 1056 should be loose enough for you, I run it stock turbo, but wish it was tighter for my application.
