Kurt, I hate to say this, but pulling in high range, isn't good for the converter. I would assume that there was an lock-up issue at the last pull. I would also assume that your converter was about a million degrees at the end of the pull. The seal may have seen some serious heat. This may explain the leak. You'll need some very short gears in the rear if you are going to pull in high range. Anything I can help with? let me know. Sorry to hear about the problems.

My tranny temp was pretty hot steve 220 or so do u think a tranny cooler will help this issue. Or maybe some 4.10 gears?? What do u think

Might take a 6.00 or more, I just don't know enough about 2WD HR pulling.

I don't think a tranny cooler could dispensate the flash heat in the converter soon enough to help in a pull environment. It couldn't hurt though.

Steve can a 1057 handle this heat. I will be better off going with one of them if it can handle it
I'm the wrong person to be answering this question, but here's a perspective. Any slipage in the converter will build heat and fast.
A 1057 may still have a problem with slipage in this situation. You may be able to play with the TCM tune and get the converter locked up. I would think that it would kill the RPM's on the motor and limit you to pulling in 1st gear. Maybe second and that would be with a steep gear in the rear.
Kurt, you are a D'max 2WD pioneer. I can't share much for you to go on.
sorry

Steve i know u may not be the person to ask but i wonder if i command the TC to lock in first gear race my rpms to right around 4850 grab 2nd out of T/h and say right around 2200 push T/H in. and lock the converter in. Will this still be to much converter heat on the seal. I have thought about putting a transfer cause in my truck. But i dont wanna take the drivebilty out of my truck. Its all i have

Humm gearing aint really a opitition for me i dont have the time and money. Mostly the time i cant afford to have the truck down for a week let alone a day. I will have to figure something out thought. How hard would it be to put a zf6 tranny in my truck. That with a dual disk or triple disk clucth should hold the heat

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY??????

If money is that tight have your brother co-sign a measly 1000$ loan buy a torque converter, and while your at it buy some new OEM clutches(if the ones you currently have arent new) at the very least. Your payments would be very small on a small loan like that. My honest opinion is you need a ZF-6 as much as I need a bullet in my head.

Now I have no right to tell you what to do but if you cant afford to play then dont. I wouldnt dream of pulling a 40,000# sled with a stock TC and stock clutches????
