I am getting a tapping noise near the bell housing of my transmission, built 2 years ago, standard alto clutches, t-go and valve body mods. Any ways, truck extremely quiet cold, get the truck up to 190-200 degrees, start getting a tapping noise which seems to be from the converter area. Is this unheard of ? i already pulled my starter and checked all the converter bolts and all were good. I only have 13k miles on this build, this noise is driving me nuts and is kind of embarrassing. Any body give me some recommendations?

Built trans, supporting mods, kory tuned, 2003 with fresh injectors and gaskets. Injectors 4 years old with 20,000 miles on them. Head gaskets were only done because I needed to replace my driver side head because of broke glow plug. Noise started 2 weeks ago. Head gaskets I did in April.

Service, just changed the spin on filter so far for transmission, the built transmission only has 10,000 miles on it. Do not really beat on the truck just drive it normal, noise starts to happen when truck gets warm, you can hear it click all the way down the shut off rotation of the engine

doing some quick research, i am going to go out on a limb here and say it is my flex plate. The only thing that is bothering me before i go ahead and pull this transmission again is that it only does it warm, have to kind work the truck pretty hard to make this noise occur. any suggestions??

Could it possibly be an exhaust leak at the up pipe?I had a pebble come in from the inspection cover and bounce around.Thought I had blown something up.somthing to check.

i can clearly here it down around the bell housing, i had a exhaust leak before from breaking a bolt off in the manifold, it doesnt sound like that. I will post a video for you guys and maybe that will help.

food for thought, i can also make this noise go away if i go forward to reverse or forward. in between the shift it will disappear and then come back as soon as it engages into the forward or reverse

Never been so happy to see a crack in a flex plate. This noise sounded terrible! Found the issue! Thanks Mike L!

I get lucky sometimes.
Now; there is a procedure to replace the flex plate and you must follow it. If you're going to do this post it up here and I'll walk you through it.

I went with stock, the newer style flex plates beleive it or not seems to be bit stronger then my stock lb7 one. Thicker, seems like a slightly different type of material and it has less of a dish but where the bolts contact the converter is where it dishes out more.
