i have a 1058 and a scV i towed a broke down f350 home and as i was letting it idel before shut off i noticed a deafing tapping in the bell housing area when i put it in gear it would go away only taps in park or neutral so i am thinking loose comverter bolts so today i get up and start the truck it was about 30 deg f and no noise so i let it warm up ideling for 15 min and the tapping starts so i put it on the lift and re check all the converter bolts and all are at 45 ftlbs now with truck in the air i shift into drive and reverse with tires spinning it taps then in neutral or park its not as loud but noticeable so am i right in thinking converter??? the taping sound is rhythmic to one rotation of the converter and the fluid is a red and smells like i just poured it out the bottle

mine has a grinding noise at idle in park and also goes away with a load on the converter...its more like a bearing grinding, but its been doing it for a year now and never got worse didnt start till jeff garmon worked on it...but it was also 8 quarts low of fluid when i picked it up...guess he should stick to junky ass dodges

mine has got me kinda pissed as this is the second converter that has potentially failed and i am not running a huge tune or producing huge power need someone with some transmission experiance to chime in
