What tach are y'all using? There's a 6k tach from autometer I'm thinking about getting. I'd have to drill and tap for 4 bolts arrayed 90 degrees around the balancer to read. Anyone else make a good tach that might be a flasher? Like read off metallic tape or something alittle simpler?

Dont they make tach's that read directly from the ECM tach signal wire...?

Its DC square wave, 2-pulses per revolution.

You don't need to run anything other than a resister and 5 volt reference. I have been running them like that for years. I also run a normal Autometer.

No, off the tach signal wire coming from the ECM. Its a white wire that goes to the 16-pin C100 bulkhead connector off of the engine harness.

It'll still read up to 6k or more rpm accurately through that wire? Cause i wouldn't have a clue what that thing could possibly read through the stock system, or over thinking?

It will be way more accurate than some hall-effect magnet sensor thing mickey-moused onto the balancer. :D
