Just thought I'd ask here, a guy is wanting to me trade my zf6 for his stage five ppe with billet input and output shafts. His truck is an 02 cclb mine an 03 rclb. I know I'll need his tcm and have to retune my truck which I planned on to begin with. With mine being a manual tcase and his automatic. Can we keep our xfercases or would we have to swap those out to. As far as drive shafts go would they both work or not? I'll be using his tcm also. Any advice would be great. My motor is already out so the transmission won't be hard in my truck. He's driving a ways also so doing this quickly is the plan

None federal emissions. No egr etc. So my manual floor shifted tcase will be fine with the Allison and his push button tcase went be a problem with the manual tranny. How about drive shafts? Same length with mine a rclb as his a cclb?

You will run into one BIG hurdle here, and that is wiring harness's. You will need to find the correct harness for the ZF6 truck to put the ALLISON in it. 01-02 is one style, and 03-04 LB7 is another, so the harness's will not directly swap over. I THINK there might be a calibration out there to retain the push button transfer case with the ZF6 trans, but not sure on that. in all honesty you would both be money ahead to swap trucks rather than trannies since your both dealing with essentially different trucks. ALOT changed in 03 in how the wiring works, as well as how some of the pedal mounts in. I believe the pedal mounts isn't hard to get around, but in all honesty why go chopping up 2 trucks?

My truck has the motor out anyway for upgrades. He wanted a zf6 and I figure I can go a lot faster with an auto anyway. The auto in my rc I can get it all buttoned up later that isn't a problem as I have time. His is the concern coming from far too swap. What makes you think the pedals are a problem when anything from 01-02 bolts into an 03 truck, seats body panels etc. Just curious. As far as wiring what differs from an 02 to an 03 tranny wise. I ask these question because I want for sure answers from people who have done these sort of swaps before. I'll be researching this more and more until the time comes but figured I would get some tips from people who have had first hand experience. Hope no offense is taken by that

As far as chopping up two trucks he has a cclb in which he pulls with. Good candidate for a zf6 as he's always wanted one. My truck being a lighter rclb that I use as a street truck would benefit with a faster shifting auto. Idk how we would both be money ahead swapping trucks in that regard.

I know I read when they were doing the BURB swaps there was some support changes in the dash supports around 03, so I don't know if the pedals would swap over or not. As far as wiring changes, it would be like trying to take a S-10 harness and put into a CORVETTE, they are COMPLETELY different from 02 to 03. 01-02 still used the old wiring architecture like they started using in 95, 03 changed to much more useage of GM LAN for communications in the body whereas 01-02 had most everything hard wired. The trans harness is part of the harness that goes from the engine bale connectors to the fuse panel, and the fuse panel and associated wiring under it are in COMPLETELY different leagues from each other and do not interchange. The TCCM changed in 03 as well as the transfer case encoder motors if it's a push button 4X4. If it was an 03-05 to an 03-05 it would be a walk in the park, but 02 to 03 electrically are night and day different.

Well if I need to get the wiring from an 03 I'm sure I could find what needed if it became of that. I just want to make sure I can get him taken care of and going as I'll be at home with my truck in the shop to deal with later. Pretty much him pull in strip his truck and throw my zf6 in. Once he's good to go I'll deal with my piles of crap and assemble as I go

Alright well nonetheless, I'll go ahead and do my research and when the time comes the swap. End of the day it's just some parts. Tons of wrecked trucks to grab necessary parts if need be around. I have a couple weeks before he's coming so I can plan accordingly.

how did this ever work out? I have an 04 lly and my buddy just picked up a wrecked 05 and I am contemplating an auto swap. what all would I need exactly? I figured the steering column, tcm, trans harness? Im not sure if the trans and engine harness are different. would I need the fuse panel? also my t-case is manual so that shouldn't cause any issues if his is auto will it?
