I have an 05 2500hd that needs a motor, I have access to a 06 LLY with the 6 sp Allison instead of the 5sp. Is this a very simple Re and re kind of swap for the engine/trans? I hear the earlier to later lly are different, anybody have any insight?

No not easily.... You would need alot of other parts and wiring harness from a donor truck.
That is if you want to keep it a LBZ & 6-speed. If you want to swap the reluctor wheel on the crank and the injectors plus some other items, it could be done. The 6-speed would become a 5-speed. It would be a early LLY with better rods and worse pistons.
