While in T/H my 2/3 shift is pretty harsh. I have my ATS on Defuel but it does not shift like this in the other gears. It's smooth as butter, just 2/3. I have reset my trans several times but this is always the case. Does it need to be adjusted some other way?? Also, I never really noticed this before but when in OD and I shift down, it shifts into 3rd and then an instant quick shift to 4th and then OD. Is this normal?? Sorry for the Newby question.

Thats not normal. I had weird shifts like that before and i had a broken solenoid spring in the VB. I got it fixed at ATS and now its smooth as ice.

NWT,

Which shifts are you refering to?? My warranty is coming up and I want to make sure that I am taken care of. What causes that spring to go bad?

Mine would hit kinda hard from 1-2shift and really hard from 3-4 shift. Then it would downshift really hard too. I couldnt even use T/H cause it felt like i was gonna leave my trans on the highway.

ATS said i had a broken spring in the VB and a hole that was drilled for the Transgo shift kit was too big. I had the whole VB replaced with a ATS and now its good. Those guys put a new filter, fluid, VB and had my truck for 6 hours........didnt charge me a penny.

Im not sure what caused the spring to break? Im pretty hard on my Trans tho so it wasnt a big surprise.

never heard of a harsh 2/3 shift. usually it's the 3/4 shift.

Originally I thought it was from defueling. So the shift sequence in T/H goes like this.....1/2 flares at times, 2/3 quick hard shift (almost chirps the tires) 3/4 smooth and 4/5 smooth. All downshifts are very nice. Now that I think of it, I usually roll my foot into it between the 2/3 shifts and then start letting off on the 3/4. I do this to get my load moving and up to speed. Do you think the higher RPM's are making me feel this way? Did I just answer my own question or can this be adjusted by a Tech 2 or something similar or am I way off and could need some new parts??

If its a violent shift i would be 99% shure thers something not right inside your trans. Mine only shifts hard when T/H and Co-pilot are cranked up and im at WOT. Other than that it feels stock.
