I have had my suncoast stage 4 for 6 months at first it shifted hard in every gear which I was told not to worry that it would smooth out.

Well I have hauled about 200 rolls of hay and it shifted hard in 4th or 5th, its hard to tell sometimes which gear it is. But the first two loads i hauled it shifted very hard then it got to just a jerk when it shifted until I unhooked from the trailer then it shifted very hard again for about 100 miles then it went back to a jerk.

Yesterday I hauled a 16 foot trailer with a utv and 2 atv through the hills of jamestowns TN which is a tough tow because of all the hills and curves which is about 115 miles from here and it would do great to it got about 4th or 5th and it would upshift hard but down shift from 6th or 5th smooth what could be the problem

Who did the build? Are you sure you are not experiencing a harsh converter lock up?

A friend of mine built it he has been working on transmissions for about 15 years and he had worked on allisons in schools buses and concrete trucks but mine was his first one in a truck but he has built mine and 2 of my friends trucks with no problems all but mine with that hard shift but mine is the only 6 speed and Rob Coddens did my tuning so could it be a minor tuning problem or is it something I am doing

Have the fast learn procedure done with a Tech 2. I am not talking about reseting TAPs. This can only be done with a Tech2 and takes about 10 minutes. You may be experiencing a tie up. This should work if indeed you have a clutch apply problem. If it's the converter hitting hard then an Allison DOC might do the trick. There are adapts for the converter but are not addressed by EFI or the Tech 2. I have had success with the Allison software.
