I am stoked i ordered my tranny kit today! I ordered the Gmax with a 1056 converter. I am driving down to florida in the AM to pick up my kit direct from suncoast, Fort Walton Beach, FL. Currently my truck is in Tuscaloosa, AL sitting on a 2 post lift with no transmission. They started pulling it at lunch time today. We are gonna open it up tomorrow and take some pictures and if all goes well it will be back up on the road Thursday evening. If not defenitely by Friday morning. Just want to say thanks to Rob, Trent, and Big dipper for all their guidance and help. Now lets see how this kits works.

This new kit is pretty sweet. single sided frictions. A total of 12 instead of 6. It is going in tomorrow and i am picking it up on friday morning. How many miles do i need to put on it before i can start throwing any serious power at it? I have a cummins with a XTR and pipe that wants to race me for 100 bucks on Saturday night.... Sooo. By friday afternoon i should have atleast 150 miles on it to 200 miles.

usually 500 miles and a new spin-on before really beating on it to avoid glazing the new clutches is what i was told.

Bahhh , as soon as the trans in learned up give it hell ! I usually have big tune in the ones i build when they leave the shop and just tell them as soon as its shifting decent then go ahead .

Your builder should do it for you , tech II is the best way , but EFI can do it under the scal tool go to VATS and it is in there.

I think in the DVT section of the scan tool, activate the LB7 tcm.
Then all you have to check the first two in the first row...just the ones that say [instant] and hit clear, then do some drivng.

I thought this was the way to reset taps. What does this do if it doesn't reset taps?

With EFI Live you can actually reset TAP's as if you about to flash a TCM tune in, there will be an option. Then in the DVT function you can clear 1-2 2-3 3-4 4-5 and 5-4 4-3 3-2 2-1 TAPs but EFI Live cannot put the Allison into fast learn which is what a Tech II can do.

ive never seen the need for fast learn because by the time i go into each gear about 5 times and come out of each gear 5 times it is shifting real smooth

Not exactly. Fast adapt and fast learn are not the same. EFILive can put the TCM in fast adapt mode, but cannot do the fast learn procedure. When in fast adapt mode, the TCM makes larger changes to the shift timings and such until a point where it changes and makes smaller changes. Fast learn applies clutchpacks while stationary to learn clearances and tolerances.

Where did I say anything about Fast Learn with EFI Live? I was talking about resetting TAP's? lol

My trans felt like I wasted $4G when I first picked it up (Shifted VERY hard and rough, all is good now though). I would recommend a Tech II relearn.

But, I did reset via EFILive before leaving, and I only went through the first two buttons, I was later told you have to do all 4? But, after doing all 4 it did seem to be better.
