Was there an update in the thickness of the c2 steels lately? Starting putting mine together tonight and I have one .067, one .067 wave plate, and 6 .086. For a total of 8 steels and the bottom apply plate which is 9.

I didn't put it together and check clearance as I wanted to see if I had the correct parts first and not make a big mistake. Does this sound right? The directions with my 5r3 kit says .067,.067,.086,.086,.067,.067,086, then wave plate to finish it off so it'll end steel on steel??

And on another note why no new c1, c2 balance pistons? Do these not go bad? Nothing I should worry about replacing?

Ok I just messed around with it for a while trying to get the clearance right. And it's either way too tight or too loose. I'm coming up with they want between .593-.612 thickness for the steels in all. I can only get .583 or .650 with what I gave to work with.

I'm using 6 of the thick steels and the wave plate for the last steel in the pack and it's .583 thickness for just the steels. With steels and clutches in the c2 hub I'm getting .090 for clearance.

Remember the wave plate will give you extra clearance.
Put the wave plate between 2 flat steels and measure the gap. deduct thickness of wave steel plate from the gap and add that number to your total stacked clutch pack total. That is how you measure total clearance with wave plate. Clutch pack with wave plate will always be tighter than a clutch pack without wave plate.

Gotcha. Thanks Mike. So if my wave plate has a .020 wave per say then whatever measurement I have total I should subtract .020 from that

Ok well I think I got it figured out. I ended up using 6 .086 steels and one. 067 and the .067 wave plate. It's a pretty tight .080 clearance but it's in spec so hopefully this'll work.

So I moved onto the pump to upgrade the needed things. My dimples on the gears were facing down. As in toward the converter when installed in the trans. My transmission times says the dines should face up. Which would be toward the rear of the trans correct? So someone's had this apart and did this wrong before?
