Thinkin about putting a lift pump on my 2005 lly duramax, probably the fass150. Heard they have 1/4 tank issues, was looking at the suction kits, fass makes a couple, which ones are the best?? Heard about the ppe but it's over 200 for the billet suction kit, which one will allow me to run low in the fuel tank?

You don't actually want to run low even with a draw straw or sump kit installed. Fuel has a lot of air in it when low because it's sloshing around a lot and air kills the fuel system. Just learn not to run it so low.

No they are nice and do a good job but don't get the mentality that you need to install one just so you can run the truck low on fuel all the time its hard on the fuel system.

I installed the fass sump/straw kit in a '13 lml a while ago. It was a nice kit with good directions. I think it would fit well in the older trucks but I had to get a little creative with that brand new trucks sending unit/pickup. I don't think the fass was designed for it. I did like how it gave the ability to have the fuel line up top. He was only having 1/4 tank issues but his pump is a lot quieter at all levels now.

That being said I am putting a beans in my truck today. I have bad 1/4 tank issues. I wanted a fass like above but couldn't turn down the deal I got on the beans.

The pumps will be louder when the suction side is smaller than the pressure side as seen in the 01-10 trucks fuel pickup. Rule of thumb for pumps is the suction side should be equal to or preferably larger than the pressure side this will prevent the pump from cavitating and/or being noisy. The pump more than likely will have a longer lifespan with the larger suction hose...
