It won't go to demo mode if your v2 is plugged in when u open it. I also believe u can just enter all your v2 info in the register menu.

If I am not mistaking you still have to have your V2 hooked into the computer and a license for his truck on your V2 in order to write tunes and then transfer them to his autocal to flash in his truck...

That's what I was thinking, being outta town I didn't think at all to bring my V2 but then he wanted me to see if I could create a better tune than Black Bear did. He bought a autocal that had 3 generic tunes on it and doesn't like any of them, it's an 05 chevy 1500 4.8L. Had me all kinds of confused because he told me it came with a license but plugging it in to his computer he can scan, log, download his stock tune, and put on the generic tunes but I didn't know if plugging it into mine would get mine outta demo mode. I'll just wait till I get back home so I can get him to email his stock tune to me and I'll go from there, Troy you are right it's been a long day. Had me really confused. This Black Bear performance I think screwed him because they aren't doing what they said they'd do, it's like he just bought an autocal with crap tunes on it with expectations of them actually building god tunes from his stock tune but so far he has heard nothing and it's email only, can't call them. Weird. I can't see the tunes to see what they did so time will tell. I'm sure I can make it better though, after flashing any three of the tunes there's basically no difference by the seat of the pants. Thanks guys I'll get her figured out. Heading home in a couple days :thumb:

Your v2 can flash his vehicle, but you cannot write tunes to his AutoCal. The only device that can write tunes to his AutoCal will be Black Bear Performace's V2 unless the device is unlinked and reset to yours.

Black Bear have one of the best reputations going around. Justin would be one of a select few that I'd allow to tune my personal vehicle. With your friend submitting his log files I'm confident they will figure out what is going on and take care of your friend. Perhaps you could share your thoughts on the log files you viewed?

What needs to be kept in mind is that tuning a gasser is not like a diesel. If his 4.8L is stock a GREAT result will be maybe 10HP...you can't just throw fuel at it and expect 40-50HP instantly like a diesel.

Cheers
Cindy

Ya don't mess with it unless you are very familiar with tuning gasers... A few * of timing in the wrong area could be disastrous

As Cindy said BlackBear is 1 of the best tuners out thee via gassers however there is only so much you can do on a stock platform. TCM tuning in gassers is where they really shine thru by changing up shift points and what not...

Thanks Cindy, Paint and Troy, we finally got ahold of Black bear today and I see now what they've done, just seemed a little off at first but he's not the best at describing everything, kinda one of those vehicle illiterate people haha, once everything made sense it was all good. He got his tunes from them today they had retuned from the stock tune and his 89 pump gas tune (mid grade), it was a little hard to tell how much power was added but the shift points were a little higher and after driving about 150 miles or so he said his fuel economy seemed to be better, and to me seemed as if the engine ran smoother through the rpm range, shifts were a bit firmer as well, the premium fuel tune ran really well and the shift points were close to the same, we could feel a bit of power difference by the seat of the pants meter lol especially when really getting on it from a dead stop, truck actually moved :woott: he's excited and I'm confident in what they done, from the logs the tunes looked clean and very well controlled, I didn't get much time to view them but will look more in depth soon as I can. I do have experience in tuning gassers so I wasn't too worried about that part but they are definitely trickier to tune than diesels. Thanks everyone for the insight, did my research today, can't always go off what someone says, Black Bear is def good at what they do, don't know if I could do what they did but I'd like to try someday. Now to get back home and start the tear down on the LLY :D always fun. Thanks again everyone
