I have been working on the appearance of my truck a little bit. I bought it from an older gentleman (family friend = friendly discount). It had lots of striping, running boards, etc. So I took all the stripes off and used brake cleaner to get the residue off. Is that bad? I washed it really well twice afterwards and waxed it. I really want to take of the body molding, but I am afraid of the amount of residue that would be left behind. Is the brake cleaner safe to use on the residue under the body molding or is there a better solution? Thanks in advance!!

I have heard of the eraser wheels, but the one I found was around 50 bucks, I'll have to do more shopping around and finder a better deal.

I would assume the 3m adhesive remover would be safer than brake cleaner?

Get some fishing line, and gloves... pull it tight and just make a sawing motion behind the trim, it'll cut through the glue and leave hardly any residue on the truck.

people use all kinds of things, gasoline, brake cleaner, etc... it'll all strip the wax right off the vehicle. I'd use a 3m wheel if you have air tools, they don't really spin fast enough in a drill.

I'll try the fishing line, hadn't heard that. Thanks!

I would have been all day on a drill, I'll have to grab an air tool. Thanks guys for all the replies, I really like the clean look of no stickers or badges or anything. I really wish I had a picture of this right when I got it, it was bad!!

if you have a lot to do, might grab two of those wheels. They can go quickly, but they work really well.

Dont put that eraser wheel on a grinder it can burn paint fast if its oversped. My buddy works in a body shop he used a plastic bondo spreader thing to get the badges off and an eraser wheel on a buffer. And buffed the crap out of my truck as the paint was faded worse than I thought.
