Normally run 20" KMC addicts and terra grapplers but I want to shed some weight for the track. What would you guys suggest for tires to mount on stock 16's? Need to be decent on the street as well.

If ya could find some old Toyo proxie ST's, they are known to be a good street/strip tire. I don't think they make that specific tire anymore but if you look around on Craigslist or on the forum or something you should be able to come across them.

Steve I ran 12.65 on beater BFG AT's if you can get a good tire before Friday I would if you can't not a huge deal you will get an idea of where your at. My best was 12.65 on PYO's and 285's, I ran one night for the hell of it on MT ATZs and chrome H2's went 12.71......

I've had great luck with the Proxes ST1. General had the Grabber UHP that was similar. I think Falken makes a real nice sport truck tire also.

I love the shit outta my Cooper Zeons. They are a little more "all terrain" style, but they look hella good and ride / grip awesome

Just ordered the proxes. Hopefully dropping some rolling weight and adding a bit of traction will get me down in the low 1.7's and maybe help a bit top end too. Headed to the track on Friday. First time with the nozzles and EPR tuning. Hoping to see 12.7 or so

Did you order them online? Try getting them siped. It will give you more bite off the line, alot more.

They have quite a bit of siping to begin with. I can't imagine cutting up a brand new tire would help with dry taction on a prepped track. And I ordered them local. Shipped mounted balanced 174 per tire

Wow thats a great deal, nice score. I never liked the idea of siped tires either, but it makes a difference prepped tarmac or dirt. You guys seem to be willing to try just about anything to get a tenth off yout sixty foot times, this seems like a cheap and easy thenth of a second to me. The sipe allows the tire to give a little more, flex and bite into the ground, im not sayin to go and sipe some drag slicks, but for street tires, and straight line starting and stopping siped tires perform better.
